Dropped something behind the dash. How do I get it?

I keep a pack of yellow post-it-notes in the little tray above the radio. I also keep 3 id cards/gate keys for families housing complexes. The other day I used one put it back into the tray, & it got stuck between the tray & the dash as I pushed the tray back in. So that in turn pushed the card into the back of the dash, & has disappeared. Any way besides taking the console & radio out to get it? I really don't want to do that & end up breaking something(seems to always happen) If I went to a dealer would they do it for free? Any suggestions?

Man, you're SOL. The dealership would most likely charge to do it, and doing it yourself wouldn't be an easy task.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

its actually really easy to take the radio and stuff out.

the 'wood' trim just pops right out, and then the radio is just held in with a few screws. if you really need to get the card you could do it in less than 10 minutes.

Really? The manual says I have to take the rear console out, the side panels & the radio.

well actually I'm not sure... if you have the stock radio. I dont remember how that was held in there, but I can't imagine it would be difficult, just a couple extra screws maybe.

the wood trim pops right out of you just pull on it, and then you will be able to see the screws holding in the stereo. with my metra kit there are a few screws in the front that hold the whole thing together. the stock radio might have a couple extra screws, but there is nothing in there that would make it really hard to pull out.

pop the wood trim off and have a look.

That drawer thing was useless IMO. Mine got stuck and that little flipdown door malfuntioned. Drawer seemed like an afterthought and not very practical, things could keep it from opening too.
My new 6 speed has Navi and thus no drawer, not missing it.
Good luck on getting your stuff back.

I'm 100% sure the drawer was an afterthought. They probably designed the navi version first, then needed to fill that space when they adapted it to non-navi.

And for some reason they thought a business card holder type drawer was a good idea.

I filled mine up with air fresheners.

You have to take everything apart! pop the wood off unscrew the back half of the console, take off the shifter trim and take off the driver side dash under the steeringwheel because there is a screw under there for the console side panel (which you have to take off both sides then take out the little panel where the heated seats are to find a couple more screws to take out the front half of the console! Thn after all that you can unscrew the radio and note holder. Its really ot that hard just a lot of screws!
Have fun!
