Drop difference Eibach vs CT. Which is "enough"?

Now that I'm actually going to make the purchase, I need a quick response on anyone that has firsthand knowledge on the difference. I'm going to stick with the stock 215/50/17's and replace the rims w/ 17" Centerline RPMs (construction on Baltimore highways/downtown make me too nervous to put any less tire between the road and my rim). To reduce the wheel gap enough, is the eibach 2"/1.7" drop preferred over the more conservative CT 1"/1.25"? Or would people recommend going a step further with replacing shocks or using a coilover to reduce it more (for both eibach or CT)? My fear is deciding on one option now, and not being satisfied with the reduction in gap. I tried cruising around and looking at people's sigs / pics, but seems most people have 18's and 19's and/or went the full distance with full replacements of everything in the suspension.

thanks,

--D

thanks, I know this thread discussed it a little bit... but was looking for more input. I sorta wanted to go with all CT stuff... but buying OBX headers just put the kabosh on that Just wish I could find a place to do the work for a decent price now. 2 quotes so far on springs -- $215 and $350. Springs gonna cost $220ish shipped, and I don't want to pay labor equal to the parts. I don't even want to think what install pricing on my headers and CT icebox is gonna run. Waiting to hear back from Schaeffer Import Auto Care Inc here in Baltimore, but no one answering or returning my messages :/

I like the CT drop. It's actually about 1 3/4 front 1 1/4 rear.

comptech drop is very conservative in both looks and ride. if you want something more aggressive and don't mind sacrificing alittle ride quality go for something besides comptech.

Ben (Schaeffer) usually only answers the phone around lunch time. It is a small outfit and Ben spends most of his day under the hood of a car, so you usually have to leave a message and he will eventually get back to you. If you tell him during the message that you are anxious to get the job done, he may respond quicker.

I have used them for quite a bit of work on my car. I will admit that they are not always the easiest to deal with, as in your example of him not responding as quickly as you might like. But I have been very happy with his work and his prices. Another number you can try for Ben is 301-854-6252.

Note also that Ben is a Comptech dealer, so he can probably get you better than list price on the Comptech parts.

I actually just got quoted some prices from Tischer Acura in Laurel, MD...

$255-$260 for CT icebox and $90 install
$163 install on OBX headers
$299 for CT sways or $256 for Eibach and $250 install (less if done at same time as headers)
$240 for Eibach Pro Kit and $325 to install (ouch).
$84 per corner on cambers and 20$ per corner install

Left another message w/ Ben, hoping he gets back to me soon.

Those install prices are a little high. I have the CT's with better aftermarket shocks. The ride is still fine. If you keep the stock shocks your ride will be a bit bouncy with either spring setup. Looking back I would have liked a little more drop, but I also love the way my car rides. I wouldn't want to give that up for 1/2" less gap. You are going to keep the stock size too so those tires will make the gap look smaller with CT's.

I've got eibach with the stock shocks. The ride is harsher, but it's not bad. The drop looks great as well.
