Dont waste your money on the unit in the above link. You can make the same thing was a simple relay and harness.

Anyone wanna shed some light on the Relay/harness method? Also, don't you need to limit the power going to the light for the DRL because they're highbeam bulbs?

I'm pretty interested in doing this, and I have an extra fog harness around...

The way I did my fogs Is

-found a power source that is on when the car is on ie ignition switch
- hooked the relay up too the fogs (Power)
-then hooked the ignition switch up to the switching mechanism on the relay (Power)
- then hook power up to the relay from the battery (Power)
- then negative on the fogs to negative on the battery

Thats how I hooked up my fogs but I wanted alot of power, if you want it dimmer hook up a resister

Me personally I like the DRL fogs

Its a lil more comiplicated than what I explained
like you need a relay that is also switch off my a power source so when the head lights are on the drls are not and also you need a seperate way to turn the highs on all in all I think the DRL module is the best way to go

When you do what I did with the fogs you will still have DRL highs

but if you do what i did next, connect hids straight to the highs then you will have no DRLs in the stock location but you will still have HID high beams

Or you could just un plug you DRLs LOL

umm i like my high beams but i was thinking of drilling a hole in the high beam and putting a the DRL there and then wire it if it was possible. So i need a relay and a harness?

The way DRLs work stock in canada is

-they are on when I turn the car on
-when I turn the light on all the way there off
-when I put my high beams on they put more power to the DRLs

and I think the module in the link above does all that

if you drilled a hole you would have to take the head light apart and then just use one relay like I did for my fogs , but it wouldnt reflect right amoung other problems

I found this module but it is going to hard to find one that does the same thing as stock DRLs

but this one is almost good
- it goes on when the car is on
- it turns off when the headlights are on
- and it turns off when the e-break is on
but it is missing one thing and that is a switching mechanism for the high beams ill keep looking I got a lot of time on my hands, LOL. but if anyone finds one I can tell you how to install it

Did USA TL's have DRL?
I see a lot of them. But they are HID low beam DRL's. Wonder if they are just dealer installed options?

Yes. I see them all over the place with DRL. Stock US spec 2nd gen TL's. But they are HID's.

Guess another dealer scam to shorten HID life & get $ replacing bulbs & ballast's.

DRL on the highbeams will only burn out a $7 halogen buld, not a $50 HID bulb and $200 ballast.

If you want drls, the easiest way is to hook the fogs up to an ignition switch that what the Audi's use in canada

Hamstar makes DRL modules that will convert your high beams to DRL's that run at reduced brightness. I'm sorry I don't have a vendor link at the moment, nor do I know the best model number to use for the CL's. But that is the module I will likely run when I get around to my Bi-Xeon retrofit.

are you putting a bi-xeon in the high beam location?the reason I ask is because if there is a xeon in the high beam location its going to be as bright as a high beam even if its a bi-xeon and it on low , so whats the point just put a xeon IMO CHEAPER

Well I have bi-xeon projectors already, so my plan is to replace the factory ones with them, then the high beam location will be unused.

Yes. But my plan is to but the standard low beam bulb in the high beam area, and the DRL unit will cut down the brightness.

I definitely will post pictures, maybe even do a short DIY. I have everything except an extra set of headlights (LOL) and have been anxious to get going on this mod. I don't want to rush it though, hence why I am trying to hold out for an extra set of lights.

Got a great set of FX projectors and then bought clear lenses and shrouds relatively cheap. Got lucky maybe. Was going to do it to my Accord but now she's gone. Damn CL headlights are pricey, but I suppose I'll bite the bullet and just get new ones from the dealer once I'm ready to invest in the project. Hate to spend the time and money with a used set of lenses.

Good advice thanks. I guess I will in a bit after I get some of my motorcycle paid off LOL. I had always seen them for more, or I contact someone doing a part out and they are gone already. For $150 or less I would consider a used set if I can sand/polish the lenses.

Quick Reply: DRL .... Has anyone tried
