driving light replacement

OK, so I'm new to this and not really all that mechanically savvy. So can anyone out there tell me how to replace the driving lights on my '01 CL? Probably very simple, but......

You are so lucky because I just replaced both of mine this weekend Both lens were cracked due to the stupid location of the lights. You can remove the lighting unit and change the bulbs without getting underneath the car I learned that after I did the first one. Here is how:

1. use a long handle phillip screwdriver, find the notch on the front grill next to the light, stick the screw driver in the notch(gap) and try to stick it into the hole where the screw is. This may take a few trial and error to find that hole because you cant see it, you have to do it by feel, once the driver is in the hole, turn counter clockwise to loosen the screw, you can use a flat blade on the wider side of light and pry it out once the screw is completely loosen. The screw will be loosen but will not drop out due to the good design. Take the unit out and change the unit/ or the bulb as you wish.

Remember, you don't have to get under the car to do it!!! The owner manual stated to get under the car, but that's the wrong way and took a lot of time.

I have the Polarg M-6 for the road lamps, they look much better than stock and they're brighter. They're 18 watt vs. the stock 5.

King of the Road has it. Idiot proof explanations are exactly what I need.

The Polarg bulbs look fantastic, any suggestions as to where I can purchase?

If you just want the stock replacements for any bulbs try the dealer. Mine replaces lights for free.

Keep in mind, my local Acura dealer could just be a really good one. I have read on here where some people have had nothing but bad experiences with their Acura dealers. I guess I am just lucky.

Yeah but your replacements will be yellow. The Polargs and PIAA's are whiter.

i just changed mine yesterday, if your arms are small enough all you gotta do is reach under and go inbetween the plastic cover and reach up. then you turn it counter clockwise and bring the light down and change the bulb

gto2050's right on. I first replaced with the stock bulb and the yellow looks like crap. I just ordered the Polarg's and am looking forward to getting them in.
rog2961 must have damn small arms, no way mine would fit in there.
Also noticed the other night, driving in the rain, a V-shaped light projection going straight up from each headlight. Anyone else ever notice this?

One thing you must remember about the Polarg's is the installation of them. BE CAREFUL. they are actually bigger than the hole they are going in. some people have actually filed theirs so the bulb would go in easier. Upon my last reaplcement of 1 of mine I broke two putting them in. This can get kind of costly if you keep breaking them. Just a word of warning, but once they are in, you'll love the look.

There is a TSB (can't remember number) for road lamp bulbs burning out prematurely, so if you're still under warranty the dealers should replace them with updated bulbs for free. Mine did when I mentioned the TSB. But they still serve no purpose except to look dim and cheap...
From searching on here, it seems the consensus is that larger wattage bulbs can melt the housing in addition to being difficult to remove....
But I wouldn't mind trying the PIAA 19173 bulbs. They are yellow and the correct wattage (5W). Has anyone tried these?
Some day when I have nothing to do, I'll look into wiring the road lamps into the side marker circuit as others on here have done, so that at least they can be used as daytime running lights....
