Driveline Vibration?

Driveline Vibration?

Problem:

When accelerating from 38-45 i get a hard vibration from front of vehicle. Car is lowered with coilovers. I have brand new rims, tires, and entire front end suspension (ball joints, control arms, tie rods, bearings). I replaced parts cause a few were worn out and figured best to do it all since I can do it so cheap. As soon as I let off the gas it goes away. As soon as I get past 45ish it goes away. At highway speeds I never feel it. Its only at that speed so i have ruled out rpm vibration (motor or trans mounts etc) unless I'm just totally wrong....

I have done some research and I've found that a common problem when lowering the car so much is you can get some driveline vibration. Basically the driveshafts (half shafts) are extended past where they normally would be so the joints/cups in the axle/driveshaft/half shaft are just worn out. I have never replaced the axles.

Should I just replaced the Axles? Upgrade? Input on this? I'm going crazy with this vibration.

its ur axles. guaranteed. just replace them.

this kind of problem only occurs when u hit a pot hole or something.
I had the exact same problem, early 09, replaced the axles with some regular autozone/orielly axles and its still good.


Keep in mind, if ur gonna try diagnosing it, you will waste time because there is no way that you can tell by looking at the axles if they're bent or broken, in this case.

I have the same problem. I guess I'm Going to Replace my axles this weekend hopefully it goes away.

Yeah they are so inexpensive, its not even a big deal. Was just looking to see if anyone had the same issue. I was hoping to get something a little better, but there isn't an aftermarket for that kind of stuff for us...

Usually it is the axles. Mounts could be the culprit as well.

If it was the mounts, wouldn't there be substantial vibration at idle as well?

with a mount being a little bad, the vibrations will come depending on rpms and acceleration, not the actual speed of the car. dont you think?

Yea, I just re-read the post. I thought he meant 3800-4500rpms, not mph.

So most likely axles.

I just started experiencing a similar problem, drive-line/wheel shake feeling putting any power to it when going up hill or any situation when the suspension is loaded more than normally.

Yeah the next week or two I'm gonna replace 'em both along with the carrier bearing and I'll update the thread on how it goes.

Just replaced both of my axles and it seems to have fixed the problem, the car drives so smooth now.

Forgot to update! New axles, new carrier bearing and POW! No issue! Drives like a dream! Love it! Thanks for the help guys!
