Drag Racing Question....

It has finally cooled off here and I went to the track tonight with my friend who has an 5.0 Mustang with a shitload of motor/suspension/brakework and 150 shot of nitrous. I want to know what everyone thinks this car should run in the 1/4.

His first ever with his new motor went like this: Poor launch w/lots o wheelspin and immediately following, it pops out of gear, he fumbles it into second, floors it and runs a 14.4@122mph.

2nd run, better launch, hits the rev limiter in 4th gear right before the lights and runs a 13.2@116. We then had to leave because he had no helmet and couldn't borrow one.

What do you guys think this car is a capable of? 60ft times were ~2.5

Thanks

lots of motor work on 5.0 can mean anything, Is he running slicks? With slicks could hit anything from 11's-13's

No slicks. The motor is a 347 stroker. The car is more setup to road race than drag race but he's trying to get the motor dialed in and just ran for fun.

yeah... 5.0s are beastly... or can be... 11s would be plenty possible but if he's slipping all over the place like that expect that he'll proly do it again unless he gets some slicks... can't put all that power to the ground unless you have some nice rubber...

347 stroker is a very very nice engine. 150 shot? You friend should be in the mid 12's EASY. As soon as he gets the launch down and can shift with some proficiency mid 12's are within reach.

He has the mph to hit high 11's or low 12's for his weight. Plus, he's RWD. Ask him to put on a set of Hoosiers and learn how to drive!

wow.. 2.5 60ft is terrible

seems like he's having real trobule launching that thing.... just have work on the launch, probably could cut 3/4 of a second of his ET.

Slicks of some sort may be the answer

I did a couple of weeks ago and my driving makes his look like John Force.

My best time was a 15.3@92.8 with a 2.4 60ft and a .61 R/T
In my defense, it was 98 degrees.

just need more practice, you should be able to shave a 1/2 second off those times, if not more.

A 5.0 with 150 shot, H/E, gears and slicks should run low 12s, with a good driver. But with a 347 stoker he should be running mid 11s for sure.

Where's Pull-T when ya need him???

I've got to get my buddy to put slicks on that bitchand see what it will do. I like 5.0s but they are shodily constructed with especially poor interior, with that said, you have to admit that it's pretty cool to have a car in the 11's/12's for less than 10 grand
