Downed M3 on Memorial :D

He had a stick, I guess that how all of them are? Was a 5mph roll after a red light. No one got much of a jump, but I trashed him through 2nd gear, and a second or so into 3rd which is about 75 mph. Real quick and decisive kill, and what surprised me most was that after I slowed down to normal speeds and the dude pulled around me, he actually gave me that "head nod" gesture, Vietnamese dude, looked like he was 25-30. Most of the time when you take down a pricey car like that the driver just blows by.

Was a badass looking car, a real nice blue. Wouldn't mind owning one all.

It was the newest body style. That's what e46 is, no? If that's not the e36-e46 difference, I'm prolly gonna be unable to tell from what I saw.

I beleive the new e46 m3 run mid 13, i'm for sure with your mods you will have no problem taking a new m3 and your 1/4 mile low 13's. At least it will give you a good run...

I've heard that a well driven e46 M3 can hit low 13s. In either case good kill.

Pull, what is Ford developing to compete w/the '02 Z06 and Viper?

Nice kill. The new M3s can actually hit 13.1s however I think people just baby them too much. If it was mine, I'd rip 'er open right after my 'BMW required' break-in period.

Well, there is a supposed "Terminator Cobra" coming out in 02 or 03 that will basically be a 4.6 DOHC like mine that is roots blown at 6 or so pounds of boost. "They say" the numbers will be 380 hp/360 lbft give or take depending on the estimate you're reading.

I guess that'll be an OK car, good for a factory car with warranty, etc., but I would imagine the price would be in the $38-39k range for a coupe. I estimate that based on the cuurrent Cobra + another $5-6k. That's a lot of dough for a Mustang in my book. There will also be limited numbers produced, a couple thousand maybe ensuring that they will sell for full sticker plus a possible premium.

To me, putting a positive displacement blower on the DOHC is just nutty. Good low end torque but that thing will run out of efficiency by 7000 rpm. A nice aftermarket centrigugal blower on the DOHC would blow that away. Get up in the RPM band and the power is exponential. Gear it right and your all set.

How do you like your centerforce clutch? They are coming out with one for my car in the 1st quarter of 2002 so I just want to know if its worth waiting for.

Can you abuse that dual-friction clutch alot more than a stock? Also, is it noticeably heavier?

Well, I haven't really gotten it hot or anything, to test it's limits as I want to break it in a little further, but it can easily handle 500-550 hp, so it can take abuse.

Heavier? Not at all, it's noticeibly lighter than stock in the Mustang. A non-DF Centerofrce is heavier than stock, though. This is of course through my driving Mustang with these various clutches, and the Mustang setup is pretty heavy stock. I would imagine that the DF in your car would be as light or lighter than stock.

I dont' see you as having a lightweight flywheel. Any particular reasons or just can't justify the amount of money? I've heard mixed reactions about the lightweight flywheel so I'm just interested to know your side of it.

I was planning of throwing that in there too since I'm gonna do my clutch anyways. But finding one is the hard part!

Good question.

The lightweight FW would hurt my launch when drag racing since I'd have less rotating "momentum" when the clutch gets dumped. My motor isn't exactly a torque monster down on the low end of the RPM band, so the heavier FW "gives me more low end torque", sort of.

In most other areas of use, the lightweight FW would actually be better, but stoplight to stoplight and 1/4 mile is my priority, and it really isn't that much lighter, at least on a Mustang (2-3 lbs, I believe).

I did get the lighter weight driveshaft for less rotating mass later down the drivetrain and consider that money well spent. I did also get my flywheel resurfaced, and that is/should be mandatory on a clutch change.
