just means you need better/wider tires then

omg you're taking this swap thing serious?!? I was talking BS as if you absolutely had to have an engine swap for some insane reason... A swap is totally not worth it. I 100% agree with sticking with the CL engine. You're wasting your time/money. don't mess with something that already works great.

:scratchhead: maybe if you payed a shop to do it, but people do it themselves for like 3k, everything is a direct boltin anyways (minus wiring, but that is what richie's conversion module is for though)

biggest hassle is collecting all the parts to be able to do it in the first place (and finding a good used tranny)

The only plus with having a Chevy motor in your car is you dont get the shitty plastic interior with it.

If you actually were going to accomplish this swap which i'm sure can be done considering the new impala ss's do have that V8 FWD thing going on. However, you're going to run into the same exact problems you already have with the CL.......assuming everything else works perfectly and so on, the transmissions in those impalas are soft and weak just like the autos in the CL but with no manual option. To answer your question to the point, yeah I'm sure it's possible. Ford and chevy have been putting V8s into FWD cars for decades. Northatar V8s in the caddies, or the 32valve DOHC V8s in the Lincoln towncars. Those are just 2 good examples. There are more. Hey, you wanna be different and have the means, then do it. Personally, I wouldn't but that's just me. Just throwing that out there

just an FYI, those are RWD

but yes Ford has put V8's into FWD though, but it be the Tauras iirc (late 90's)

and we should have room for a V8 also, cause our engine bays already house a V6, so it is wide enough (front to back), then the Accords also have a I4 in them, so they are long enough (side to side)(but the 4 cyl. trannies might not be as loing though idk), but a V8 would fit, if you could find a correct tranny

my fault, i meant the Lincoln Continental. I knew it was one of the larger sedans. The taurus only had 1 V8 which was the yamaha engine in the third gen SHO.

The V8 should fit, but he might not be able to get the bulky accessories to fit like the airbox etc.....

Sorry, but a cam, some tuning and you would make even more NA in that V8 than a J with a 3.5 and SC. Do a little internal work and stroke it and it would be more than a J could ever make, a lot more reliable too.

If this swap was from the Impala or Grand Prix it could be done id bet pretty easy. That V8 is pretty compact (the whole LS Series is. I looked into a V8 swap from a caddy with the northstar V8 when my 4th trans failed. (saw one in a jetta so i know it would fit in the TL/CL large engine bay)

np, but that might still just be a rebodied taurus though, would not surprise me

airbox, easy just do an cold air intake

but yeah the biggest thing i see though is making sure the tranny/engine combo would not be too long (a shorter tranny can help make up for a longer motor though; if you can find one)

Money for money though, the s/c'd J will make more power ($7k vs $7k). But either way you slice it, most of the power is lost going to the front wheels.

And I saw a video with a Jetta with a Northstar engine in it. Fuckin nuts.
