Does this seem ghetto?

Okay, I'm still deciding whether or not I should purchase new wheels at this time...

I had only 5k miles on my Michelin's, but I swapped them with Toyo Proxes T1-S. Right now, I've put on about 4.5k miles. They're great tires (the best bang for the buck IMO), however I feel like I wasted my money ($700) on swapping them so early, there's still a lot of tread left on the Michelin's.

I'm planning to get the Racing Hart Evo C2's (1pc) in 18". I was thinking about getting new 18" tires with rims in the front, 17"s in the back and keep the tires I have on right now.

1) Does this seem ghetto? Would it be that noticable? I'm saving around $400 (+1 wheel size and new tires), but that would suck if it looked really odd. If it looks decent, then I'll think about doing it, and get the matching combo 10k miles later.

2) Some (RWD) cars such as the NSX and Corvette have different wheel/tire sizes on the cars from the factory. Smaller wheels in the front. So I take it that FWD would require larger wheels in the front, no?

3) Is it safe to run different size wheel/tire on a FWD car? Would 225/40 or 235/40 be the right size?

Comments, suggestions and answers are appreciated. Thanks!

Patrick

I'm no tire expert, but I've read where you have to stick to the same size all the way around ! You will screw up the VSA and Navi (if have one) and there are other issues !
Good luck !

It depends on the car. You could always sell those tires. The NSX has 16s up front and 17s in the back. On our cars it would look dumb since its a luxury car.

Never mix and match tires/rims combo. I ended in skidding at 50 mph in a 25 mph tight ramp. I had LR stock tire/rim with 3 18" rims. Bad Combo.

Sellimg your Michlen is no problem. For instance, I need 1 tire myself. There are a lot who will hit a pithole and screw a tire. Those micheling can take no road abuse at all

That would be the lamest shit ever. Also, dude, those POS michelins will last 50k miles, they are so hard. Fuck them... Ditch them, and stick with the Toyos.

Well no matter what you would never put a larger rim in the front then on the back. FWD or not.

ookayyyyy...maybe i shouldn't have asked but it's all 'G'

still have a couple of dilemmas though:

1) Should I wait until I wear out my Toyo's (they only have 4.5k miles on them), or...

2) Get 17" wheels? I agree that they kinda look small though...

3) Spend a grip of $$$ and get the whole 18" package?

4) What is the correct 18" tire I should go with? 225/40? What's the widest I can go? Thanks in advance!

What is the proper fit, 225/40 or 235/40? (Is it the same difference -- which one is safer? -- in comparing 225/45 and 235/45 for 17"s?) Also, what is the correct offset for an 18" wheel?

Stock offset is +55
Ideal is around +51 (sticks even with wheel well) Don't really want to go more that -plus, if you lower it, they may rub!
