I'm not an expert on this....but I don't think it does. I know if you go to www.edmunds.com they are associated with a company that offers extended warranties on all cars. At first blush, their quote was about $200 less than the one quoted to me by Acura dealer. Someone else would have to answer whether you get better service/less hassle from the Acura policy versus another provider.

Well, I know someone who bought an extended warranty for an Olds. Bravada. It was a non-GM warranty, but was cheaper.

To make a long story short, her transmission went, and the policy carrier refuses to pay even though it's covered under their warranty. She's getting a lawyer to resolve this.

Moral of the story... I'd beware of any warrany that does NOT carry the car makers name.

I know carfax.com also has some affiliate that you can from. The quote is about the same that I got from Acura. I paid $1K for mine and I would not have paid that high, except that I had already hammered a good deal on my price.

Definitely go back to the dealer and see if you can get it for $800 to $1,000. Worth it if you want to keep the car. I did it cause of the tranny and I have a bad habit of changing cars every 2 years. The does not make financial sense.

Now, I could care less if the tranny goes any time up to 100k miles.

Hmmmm... Does that mean you got a 100K mile warranty? The dealership I went to sold me one for 7/75K and made no mention of a 100K warranty.

Mine is 7 year/100K warranty from Acura and I paid $1K. After 50K, I have a $50 deductible.

For you guys on the west coast, CSAA (AAA) has extended warranties for a great price and it is done through AAA insurance. You have to be a AAA member but you cannot go wrong with AAA. It includes paying you $100.00 towards having to replace a tire up to 4 times or $20.00 towards a flat repair, no deductible on the tire coverage. $50.00 deductible on the warranty. The deductible is not towards each item like most warranties.
