you know, both my driver and passenger side seat backs fell off twice already.

which makes it total 6 seat backs that I've installed onto my car since I got it.

I'm still waiting for them to install the 6th one. the other one though it's still up there, but it's hanging on the edge already.

I don't want to keep on going back and forth for this problem the entire time !

the good thing is that I still have my warranty, but what if it expires ? does that mean I'll have to pay for this stupid problem ?

what should I do ? does this count as lemon ?
please advice me !

rurofan.............relax, I know how to fix them. Early ones all fell off! The plastic fasteners on the seat back can move side to side and "miss" the two holes drilled in the seat frame, which are 7 1/2" on center if I remember right (Measure them to be sure.). So, if the shop or assembly line forces the back on, with the fasteners off center, it just crushes the fasteners and the back will fall off again. Take a glue gun and glue the plastic fasteners in place (they slide side to side which causes them to get more or less than the 7.5" on center and they miss the holes) so that they measure the same on center distance apart as the holes in the metal seat frame. Then, carefully align the back in place by slipping the top section of the seatback under the lip on the seat--make sure the guide "prongs" at the top of the back piece get UNDER the seat lip--and then gently press the glued down plastic fasteners into the holes in the metal seat frame. I did it myself and the back has NEVER come off again. It is TIGHT. I installed it since the yoyo at the shop crushed the fasteners on the first seat back replacement.....they break EASILY so don't force them. Glueing them in place makes sure they line up right.

I went throught the California Lemon Law earlier, this year. The problem needs to a safety issue that the dealer has "tried to fix" 3 times or car has to out of service for 30 days under the warranty period. My lemon exceed both (28 times to the dealer and out of service for 37 days).

I would make an appointment and talk to both the service manager at the dealership and the regional rep about you problem. Maybe they will ok a replacement of the complete seats.

Depending on your relationship with your dealer, he may go to bat for you have them fix for free after the warranty period ends. Also it depends if Acura considers the problem that you are having an issue with trim. If so, I think this might only be covered for the first 12 months and 12,000 miles

Just remember doument everything, who you talked to and keep all of you receipts receipts. This will help you in the end.

I still don't understand what fell off. Are you talking about the whole seatback or just a part of it? Does it happen when you're driving?? That's really crazy if it's the entire seatback.

 

oh shit.
I just noticed on the passenger side seat rails underneath the seats...one of the black plastic/rubber clips is loose...
I gota watch out for that.

i have an early model (bought 4/00) and my seat backs never fell off, and i even tried forcing them to see if they would after hearinga bout this before...they are tight as a 12 year old...sneaker.

 

IF I understand the problem, this is a DEFINITE safety issue and should have been addressed immediately after the 2nd time.
