Does anyone really use NAVI?

When I bought my CL-S in Nov. of 2000, I kicked my self because I didn't get nav. Then I thought about it...I live in chicago and the heat/air controls are on the touch screen. What would happen if it dropped below zero(it does in Chicago alot)? I could just imagine getting in my car to go to school or work and having to freeze my ass off because the screen in frozen and I couldn't turn the heat on....Has this scenerio happened to anyone?????

I have Navi but I never use the Navigation screen to control A/C. There is no control for heat on the Navi (at least I dont think so becausee I never used it). I just use the Temp button and control the temperatire as everyone else... I also had my CL through last winter, no problems with the screen "feezing" Sometimes when it gets really cold it takes a few seconds to plot a course, but other then that....no problems. I use the Navi all the time when I go to some new place...but the bottom line is that the Navi impresses chicks and that's what's important.

AMEN!
BTW, I use the automatic temp to lower or higher the temp. My nav screen hasn't froze for the past three winters.

Yeah, Acura was too stupid to make the Navi and the climate control function properly in cold weather. So the Acura is only good in FL, CA, and TX. Places like IL, IA, WI, MN, and the Dakotas, the Navi just can't handle it.

Ok, I'm just joking but I'm sure Acura has sufficiently tested their vehicles in all sorts of climates. IL and all points North are not the only cold places in the country. In fact compared to most other places, IL is about average. IWO, Acura had to do this sort of testing because the climate you speak of is encountered by most Acura owners.

I love the Navi and yes it does impress the chicks! Prior to my CL-S, I had a 99 Accord EX V-6 and my wife was my Navi Big mistake. Now with the Navi are driving time together is bliss. Seriously, it's a great tool for getting around.

Unless your flat out busted then how could you not get the Navi? It's an electronic gizmo. Saved my lost ass many times and for traffic detours its the only answer. And the clock is always satellite right.

It ain't perfect, but it's saved my sorry ass several times, especially one night in Washington, D.C. when I accidentally detoured myself off the freeway into Southeast D.C. (not a place you want to be after dark).

for the second time, my NAVI lost its north... and it would keep losing its north until I pull over and restart my CLS.

Very annoying. My 18" tires did not help either....

There is no satellite clock signal. You have to manually set it.

Once I was heading home. Suddenly I HAD to find a rest room ! Get the idea, now I haven't a clue where there is a gas station, yet alone a public restroom. THANK GOD I HAD THE NAVI, with the newer version and got me to that station in a matter of a min. WORTH EVERY PISSING DIME !

I use the hell out of that Nav system. I don't think I'll ever have another daily-driver car without a good nav system.

My girlfriend is going to wait the few months it still takes to get an MDX solely because of the excellent quality of the Acura Nav system in my CL.

It rocks!

I didn't realize that there were Vent/AC controls via the nav screen for almost two weeks. I don't think I've ever used that screen in the 9 mos I've owned the car.

Nashua_Night_Hawk, how do 18" wheels mess up the nav system? I mean, I know it's tied into the speedo (right?), but is this a common problem or what? I'm thinking of getting 18's soon, but I don't want to if it's going to have an adverse affect on the nav system.

Hey bdimc2001! Do you have a post anywhere showing pics of the PS2 in your TL? Can anyone point me to any info on how this can be done? Thanks!
