Does any body do this??

Well i love my car and you know i like to abuse it at times also does any body " neutral drop " if you dont know what i mean then lemme explain I drive normal and then shift to neutral rev about to 3k rpm then hit it back to drive it gives me that extra boost i know it hurts the car but i really dont like WOT or the SS mode that much just asking anyone does it also?

Thumbs down

With the amount of time it takes you to shift doing that, how can you beat anybody? The tranny already has some lag to it when it shifts. Besides, why would you knowingly hurt your tranny (and your axles), especially with the way our cars are? Does not sound too good at all to me. Just my opinion, but I know a lot of people out there agree with me.

trans

The trans will not last. My buddy had an old civic and use to do it. I told him the trans is going to go not even a week late it went. So good luck with that.

very bad idea. i hope you are under warranty and don't tell the dealer of your shenanigans. extra boost? it takes more time to shift to neutral and drop it back to d5 than it takes to just mash the pedal and go.

I think people to that in a manual, but never heard of that in an auto. Our trannies are fragile enough. Putting undue stress on them is not such a good idea, unless you are trying to do something to it before the warranty expires to get a new tranny. Wouldn't reccomend that type of fraud either.

LOL, please, no one else do this. Its just common sense unless you want to be picking up your tranny off the road.

I do it all the time... with cars I'm driving to the junkyard

You really need to get it going at a good speed in reverse first, then drop it into first...

A lot of people in this world lack basic common sense.

Why would you want too? It's a freaking Acura CL, not a Sentra.

Your tranny called; it wants you to come back and pick it up off the pavement.

I think its the torque factor, that people think our car lacks. Its probably the jump in MPH over a 2 second span, as compared to just regular down shifting.

I can't lie though, kinda like GreenMonster said, I do this all the time too. But with me, I get rental cars all the time for my job, and I put a beating on those bad boys.

PS. No one buy a GMC Envoy from Alamo, I think I destroyed that car 6 months ago in New York.

Just because a rental vehicle doesn't belong to you you think you have the right to abuse it. It'll come around back to you.

why didn't I think of this? It sounds like it'd be a lotta fun listening to yer tranny self-destruct due to complete fucking idiocy While you're at it Vince, why don't you post up your VIN so Acura has a record?

People like you make me want to sell my car. Grow up and learn to drive (and use proper sentence structure) like a civilized person.

Look at it this way guys, judging by the way he drives he wont be at this forum very long.

I can't figure out the 'boost' he's talking about, someone explain his logic. If I'm in SS and want some extra boost, I'll drop down to SS 4th or even SS 3rd to get what I want. I feel sorry for his tranny.

my brothers and I used to have a beater, dodge compact car, we all shared. everynight on the way out and home and going just about anywhere, we would regularly put it in neutral, floor it to red line, then put it in drive. what a blast that was. parking brake, we did it all the time. we ended up destrying two whole transmissions in about 40,000 miles. I think we also went through two sets of tires. we ended up blowing the motor. those were the days!

Seriously, dont do that.

going in reverse at 30+mph and cutting the wheel is fun in a large open field too.

But you shouldnt do that either.

Ok, before this starts getting any worst, Imma Gonna Lock it up

Just so you guys know, there's a line in the Acurazine TOS (terms of service) that you agreed to when you joined that said the moderators can ban you for stupidity (starting stupid threads, etc).

Some of you should really read the fine print on those things
