Do our keys have a chip in them?

Do our ignition keys have a chip in them that is required to the ignition to engage? Thanks.

That's what I thought.. But then again I'm wondering why people are getting aftermarket alarm systems.. They mostly get them for the immobolization feature, but the CL already has that.. That's a lot of extra unnecessary modding that would also void your warranty.. Maybe I'm wrong.

The standard alarm doesn't have shock senser. If someone hits a door, or a tire of the car - alarm will not go off. It'll go off only if someone trys to open the door.
Aftermarket alarms come with shock sensers.
The only thing is, at least here in Cali, bodyshops don't know how to take out the stock alarm and replace it with aftermarket. It comes as "built-in" with the car.
My friend in NY had it done, though ... I guess in NY they'll rip ANYTHING apart for the money

Does anyone make a good aftermarket shock sensor or glass break sensor? It could be wired into one of the door switches, then it would trigger the stock alarm.
