Beat a '99 with my 01 AT by four car lenghts. I have CAI, he was stock.

A friend of mine had just bought it and thought he was tough. First thing he did was call me up and tell me he wanted to race. I tell him I want to see the car and he pops the hood. He had the 3800 Series II V-6 Supercharged.

We did three runs, first one I pulled him by two car lenghts and he pulled in behind me. I let off the gas and coasted. He pulled back into his lane and gunned it. I still beat him by two car lenghts after I got back on the gas.

Second one I didnt hold up, pulled him by four car lengths by the end of it.

Third one... same story as second.

He shut up pretty quick after that.

Typically the GTPs 97-03 with the V6supercharged engines run anywhere from 14.3-15.1 in stock form. I know thats a huge difference in times but traction is one thing GTP's do not have. Stock the engine puts out 240hp and 285lbs and weights around 3,600-3,800lbs. I believe. But be warned, the CLS with have no chance against a GTP that is modded (smaller pulleys, downpipe, intercooler...etc.). I have a modded GTP which runs mid-high 13's and my CLS6 is no match, eventhough ive never ran my CLS6 at the track and dont plan to.

Yes, I havent joined but im always on the club one for GTP's all the time. 400hp out of the turbo kit is awesome! How is his day to day driveability?

I'm not too worried about the GTPs, most people near me don't mod theirs if they have one... the new GXP however, is a different story. It is a little heavier, but it does have the 5.3L 5300 V8 with 303 hp and 323 lb-ft of torque. The GXP weighs in at 3600 (these numbers are all taken from pontiac's website). I'd be curious to see how this would match up against a CL-S 6 (especially one w/ mods).

it's a daily driver. he is going off of luck right now. i don't think many people have done this setup, so i expect it to be a long and expensive project. it was trapping at about 115 with the supercharger. now his transmission is slipping with the turbo setup now though.

the reason im asking is because my friend in his 98 Mustang GT 5MT with exhaust smoked my friends 01 GTP S/C with an intake by at least 4 car lengths on a roll. and on a roll i dont see why a CL-S cant beat a mustang or GTP, i just wanted to see what you guys thought based on expierience.

Your wrong, also it depends on Which CLS you talking about. If you talkin about the auto CLS yes, But the SIX speed NO, few of my boys already raced a GT with a exhaust and the cls six speed had an CAI. The Cls six speed put a car length on the GT. If you had said a Mach 1 Mustang, then I would have said yea, but it would be closer then yall think, it wouldn't be a blow out, cause my boy raced a Mach 1 and the Mach 1 beat him by half a car.

I've had no problem beating Mustang GT's. I havn't lost to one yet, but I think they've all been stock, or just with exhaust.

but all i know is a new 06 civic si gave my friend a better race than the GTP did so thats why i think a CL-S would win cuz a CL-S could defenilty beat a new Si.

stock for stock, CL-S wins.

the GTP is much more moddable though. there are lots of them running in the 12's and 11's.

i hope you mean the 3000GT, because the 2000GT is like a classic toyota roadster, was the 3000GT a VR4.

a GTP lacks top-end power which is where the CLS shines. Stock for stock of course

I raced a 67-69 GT500 last fall lol. Dunno what was in it but I was just barely pulling on him.. maybe half a car length. Was a quick muscle car, sounds beefy too :-p

Was on the way home from the Local Legal Drag Strip... way to keep it on the strip.. whoops

Your saying you beat a GT500

Probably wasn't an original so probably didn't have the correct engine in it. I doubt there are any true GT500's running at a local dragstrip

maybe it was a GT350.. definetly 67-70ish Mustang though. Not much of a Ford fan. Hell it might've been a Mach1 .. it was over a year ago so I dont remeber the exact model.. Looking at some google pics it might've been a 70-71 Mach 1.. 302ci I believe? As for the GT500 my bad, thinkin about the wrong model I posted that lmao.... thats one sweet car though.

2001 cl-s i/h/e 5.0 mustand exhaust n some other bolt ons
haha thats funny cuz i raced a old gen mustang 5.0 (1993-1994??) comming home from schoo today.
He was stoped at a light and was first in line on a 3 lane street and he kept reving it and showing off cuz there was a BMW 323 full of gurls next to him.... so they are all like wow thats a cool car n i bet its fast right and all that shit and he is enjoying his moment so i thought id ruin it for him!
i was right in back of him at the light and it was him infront of me and right next to him the BMW.
so i threw it down to 1 (not sports shift) and took traction control off and as soon as the light turned green he floors it and burns out for like 10ft and the gurls floor it too. I stayed in back of him and kept it in 1st gear and as soon as the third lane was free since we pulled away from the rest of the traffic i went into the third lane and punched it.... i was doing like 25-30mph before i floored it so when i floored it it was right in VTEC and shifted into second and even chirped cuz i took it all the way up to redline in first gear... by the time i was in second gear (50mph) i was right next to the mustang and the bmw was like 2 cars behind... 60mph i had 1.5 cars on him and by 80 i had at least 2... we stoped at the light and he didnt even turn to look at me even though both of our windows were down and the BMW came after a cupple of seconds and they were all laughing.... then the light turned green and i took off again and he took off again and so did i but this time i was next to him so by 70mph i had a good 3 cars on him if not more... then he turned on a street and i just smiled the rest of the way home since ruined his moment...

Wow didn't think i would see any one talking about Gtp's on these threads and if so that any info would be acurrate. I must say though not to shabby! It is true the Gtp has so many available mods it unreal! Although most GTP owners aren't even aware of these mods and if they were most don't ! I've owned over 6 of them 3 which were modded and have loved everyone! My CL-S 6 however has become my new love! Now where is the twin turbo for it? lol

clearance would def. be an issue for a TT CL-S, that most likely why most ppl that turbo there CL's keep it single.
