DIY Scratched Rim Repair - Help Please!

I've searched the forums, and some people have said that they were able to do a decent job repairing their curbed rims by themselves... Well, I figured I'd give it a shot, since I'm too strapped for cash to get aftermarket rims.

Can someone outline the steps they took to repair it, please? I.E. - Did you use sand paper, some other sort of file, etc? Did you apply clear coat afterwards? Did you use different methods for deep scratches and light scratches? Details would be great...

Thanks in advance for the input!

Look in the Yellow pages, bare in mind some dings are repairable but not all. I suggest just save some $$$ and buy new rims, after market rims are better anyways.
