DIY Oil Pan??

The thread's on the oil pan for my drain bolt have a chip in them and is allowing a leak . My mechanic said there's really nothing to do other than replace the pan itself. So, how hard is the job, i'd like to do it myself? or is there some other way to fix this problem? THNX!

you can retap the hole and install a bigger bolt.. much cheaper than buying a new pan.. but yes, the pan is simply ~10 bolts, and you put new gasket sealer on it and done.

I can't tell if it had allready been retapped, but there was an oversized drain bolt, which leads me to suspect that it was.

Yeah it's cake. Unlike the one in my suburban or explorer where you damn near have to get the engine out to clear the crossmembers to replace the pan or gasket.

If you need a pan, hit me up in PM or on here if you can't send or receive PM. I have a new one and a good used one. the used one is in great shape and the drainage bolt has not been abused.
