Not the first Brah... Had retrofitted e46's about 2 years ago. https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/bi-xenon-l-e-d-headlight-retrofit-started-pics-inside-492124/

Good write up though, I kinda wish I had it when I started. I have since swapped out the e46's and am running a FX35 w/ clear lens swap and am happy how it is. I enlisted in the Air Force and had no time to finish the write up. GOOD JOB!

That looks nice. What projector did you use? And what did you use for a shroud?

Thanks man. I used the TSX projectors and I made the mistake of buying those crossfire shrouds like you did. I played with those for a second but they kept hitting the lense. So I went to home depot and got some of those lamps that light up the walkway to your house and pulled the shrouds off that. Like this

I think yours look better than mine though.

One word of advice, you will grow sick of the TSX projectors soon and would want to upgrade to the AP1 S2ks

Here is what the S2ks would look like.

Some recent pics of my retrofit. Thought I'd share...

Yes I know my camera sucks. It's really hard to get the headlights to show up well in pics because the chrome is always reflecting the light.

Also wanted to add that my drivers side headlight is intermittentley not turning on. I have to play with the switch to get it to come on. From what I've read that means my ballast is on it's way out.

So should I take this as a reason to switch to aftermarket ballast's. I mean one oem ballast is like $200 right? Thats crazy when there known to fail.
Which company makes a nice kit? Kaixen? Please recommend...

Ohh and Civicdrivr you ever going to do another retrofit? I just read this thread again and think I might want to take a shot at trying it again using some of the techniques you used. Like the bracket, the adjustment screws, and actually measuring things I still have a spair sets of 03's I might sacrfice. And to those interested in this project as a diy, it's a friggin can of worms.

Yea, that sounds a ballast issue. Get a DDM kit. Theyre around $40 and alot of people on HID-planet run them with great success. The DDM kit also has a lifetime warranty. I do still want to do another retro. I have all the parts for it, I just need the time. Id measure things up but not everyone will use the same projectors, so Im not sure how useful that would be.

But, Im extremely happy with what I have now, they are bright as hell. I have never used the brights since I did the retro. I go back and forth between my car and my brothers 08 Accord and his car, with halogen projectors, cant hold a candle (no pun intended) to my setup.

Thanks for the compliment. I actually don't go into NJ much. Mostly NY. However I like to make it down to Raceway park at least once a year for the drags. Wanted to go to Honda-day last year, maybe this year.

Thanks for the heads up dude! $40 bucks... I'm on it. Going to research those now. What is it like 2 wires to splice and that's it? There was a diy on here about changing over to aftermarket ballasts. Going to check that out again too.

About your measuring... Yes not all the projectors are the same. What exactly did you measure?
Where the stock bulb sits behind the housing? I was thinking to measure how far out the chrome piece sits from the back of the headlight. Because that is how the lights are aimed normally. That's also what I fucked up because my highbeams are aimed at the ground. \
The other thing I hope to improve upon is to get the bulb access caps screwed on because I get moisture in the headlights when it rains. However it is usually gone by the next day. So i'm going to have to move the projectors up a bit so that the caps can screw shut. Which means I have to buy new bezels because the ones I have are cut to fit where they are now.

Be ready for allot of work and headache's. Do yourself a favor and buy a junkyard or blackmarket set of headlights and install those or work on those so that you can keep your car on the road in the meantime.

Basically, I just eyeballed where the stock bulb sat then tried to put it in the same location. The rear cap fit with slightly less clearance then stock. I had to take apart the bulb connector to fit the wires through the back of the housing.

Just did my retro finished today only thing I did different is I preaimed my reflector before the cutting part then aimed the projector to my old lines so my brights still light up the trees and the sky. camera died while taking pictures will try to get more tomorrow night

Its tough to tell from the pics, but the driver side may be slightly turned inward.

Are those TSX projectors? Im a bit puzzled by the odd cutoff on the driver side light towards the passenger side. Its level then drops off towards the ground.

The passenger side also has a bit of light about the cutoff. It could be the camera, but are the bulbs sitting properly in the housing?

The S2k and TL/ZKW projectors along are north of $400.
