Disappointed

I have had my car for about 6 months and I have to say I am not happy. The car makes so many noises. I would expect this maybe after 3 or 4 years but within the first year? It just seems like the car was poorly built. Maybe because its is the first year of production. It sounds like the car it loose all over the place. Not to mention my seat makes creaking noises like a noisy bed with old springs would sound like.

No problem here Toker.... the dealer can't remedy this? I have no squeaks, rattles, or any noises after 16,500 miles and 10 months.

The only thing I can assume is that maybe with the comptech springs on it I notice things more becuase of the ride. I mean I can only hear these things when the stereo is off and no one is in the car but still. Maybe I am just being anal.

Aha.... mine is stock with no performance upgrades (it's a lease) and it is aas quiet as the day I leased it. Maybe the springs are causing too much vibration?

Hey W/T, try this and see if it helps. Many times these noises are from plastic rubbing together in many places. Buy some silicone spray and spray everything you can find. Remove any excess with a damp cloth. After about two to three days most of your noises will be gone.

I have done this with every car that I have owned and it has worked very well.

Ever since I bought my CL-S, 12,000 mi. ago, evr thing squeaked, rattled, and rolled. I was going to sell it just because of all the rattles and stuff. I've lived with the noises ever since. Want to hear something funny. Ever since I got my Eibach's my car is COMPLETLY DEAD QUIET. No more squeaks or rattles at all. Weird as hell if you ask me!

I feel for you guys with those noises. Just for info purposes I'm going on past 11,000 East coast miles. Riding on comptech springs and sways.
Two big teenagers and friends always going somewhere in it and my car is just as quiet as when I drove it off of the lot.

Sorry to hear about those squeaks n noises but, though it might not be easy, there must be something (lube, tightening, dealer, earplugs ) you guys can try. Seriously hope you get them noises quieted.

My cars is only two weeks old and I have not noticed any noises as of yet. But if I hear any squeaks I'm taking it back to the dealer!

Maybe you can all help me.

I'm having a big problem with rattles. I'm getting more upset reading all the posts in this discussion about how solid everyone's cars are. Granted, there are plenty with rattles as well.

I've had the car since July and have never been void of rattles. It started w/ the sunroof, but I got that fixed a long time ago. The car has 10,500 on it now.

My rattles are...
1. On the right side of the car. I think it's the door or the pillar. Something is loose and rattles *ALL* the time. I can't figure it out. Going over a large bump will set it back in place and the noise disappears for a few days, then comes back. Last time it was in for service, the tech couldn't find the problem.

2. Dead center of the dashboard where it meets the windshield. Something rattles there - and again, if you go over a large bump, it either sets it in place or loosens it. And again, the tech couldn't find it.

3. This one is really pissing me off. The right side of my driver's seat squeeks like an attic door whenever you put pressure on that side - like a left turn. Even if you move your weight around just to get it to happen, it will happen! This problem also comes and goes, but is becoming more frequent. The tech also couldn't find this.

I want to schedule another appt and have a tech come in the car with me - but you know none of these will happen when he's there.

Any clues? Do any of you have these problems?

I read the earlier post about the silicon spray. That's an idea - but should I use it so close to the windshield? (I have never used this before).

If any of you have suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate them. If you could email them, that would be better -- robonli@hotmail.com).

Thanks in advance,
Rob M.

All,

Magazine reviews notwithstanding, the quality of some of the interior materials on the CL Type S seems inferior to a number of other cars in this price range. Without question, there is significantly less sound deadening material than one finds in the TL. A search of DejaNews I conducted prior to my purchase suggests that late model TL owners and CL owners have the most rattle issues of all Acura owners. Very high message count on this subject. I think most of the problem here is that we're dealing with a first year redesign and a US based assembly plant that I would imagine is being run the good old fashioned GM inspired way. What I've seen so far suggests weak emphasis on QC, high emphasis on low material costs. The last time I had rattles this bad was in my Saturn SL2. The irony is that the Saturn rattles were cured after one dealer visit. I've taken my CL-S in to the dealer twice in 1500 miles, but my CL-S rattles are not fully resolved.

I have encountered basically two rattles in my car. The first rattle to manifest itself was the third brake light rattle, which was actually fixed by the dealer today.

The second rattle to occur is the dreaded "airbag" rattle. The dealer has been unable to remedy this issue after two attempts. Today I was told that the passenger side fuse box door was the root cause, as some have suggested elsewhere in this forum. I tested this theory by removing the cover entirely, but the rattles that appear to be coming from the passenger side of the dashboard persist unabated. Back to the dealer we go! Would appreciate any suggestions that you might have as to guidance I might provide to the service dept to get this closed.

Despite the criticisms above, I still find the CL-S to be a worthy addition to my garage. There really isn't a better value out there for those of us that want massive horespower and an automatic, but still lust after low 0-60 times. The standard feature set on this car is difficult to locate elsewhere for the same price point. Rattles may take time to correct, but with a 4 year, 50k warranty and a Honda designed engine that will hopefully exhibit bulletproof reliability, I'm not too worried about out of pocket costs for maintenance.

I should probably add to my earlier post..

the engine in this car is aweesome. Not one problem anywhere in that compartment!!

Like QuickSilver, I'm sure we're all hoping the engine is bulletproof and reliable as most other Honda engines.

11k no rattles, no squeaks. Thought I had a rattle, had a hell of a time figuring it out, it was my sunglasses in the holder above rearview mirror, DUH.

the only noise i hear is from the passenger side. but i think if i recline the chair a little bit more, the noise disappears. could be the leather rubbing against each other. even with that, i LOVE this car!!
