Disabling VSA

Hello, I have some weird codes that are lighting my /!\ and VSA indicators. I do not want the VSA working "partially", I mean not completelly operative. Can I over-ride it by removing the two fuses on pasenger side fuse box? Or if those lights are on it means VSA is already OFF? Keep in mind that if those 2 indicator lights are ON; pressing on/off on the VSA switch does not change anything. Thanks in advance friends!

I'm a little confused about what you typed, but I think I understand what you are asking.

There are several reasons for both of those two indicators to go off at the same time, so I wouldn't be able to tell you if your VSA is working or not. If it is possible, I would suggest taking a look at a service manual for troubleshooting information. There is a PDF version for the 99-03 TL floating around somewhere that should have everything you need.

This happened to me about a year or so ago, and in my case, the ABS modulator (if I recall correctly) went bad and caused both of those lights to go off in my car and the traction control not to work. I went to the junkyard and was fortunate to find a CL-S and a TL-S with working modulators (they cost $1100+ new!).

They are on for a reason, could be a tranny issue.

When my Tranny started to go those same two lights came on

^ Yea, usually when someone says the VSA and ! lights come on, the tranny is on its way out.

tranny has no codes, tranny is not going (thank for all your good wishes)... those indicators are on due to codes that I have not been able to figure but they are ABS related (I take very good care of my tranny, thanks for asking). On previous post I was asking help on those codes (thanks for the help on that one civicdriver). If I pull out those two fuses on passenger side: will VSA be disabeled?

im pretty sure once those lights are on the system is already disabled. How about just bringing the car in to get fixed or to have a shop tell you what is wrong so that you can fix it.

The indicator is 0N due to one of these codes: 25-1, 64-1, 83-1, 97-1
have not been able to get information on them. i am sure to have seen a downloadable repair manual (PDF) somewhere but can't find it now. All help is appreciated

I'm not sure about the "-1" part of the codes but:

25: Yaw rate sensor

64: Sensor power source

83: Fl communication

97: VSA-TCS control valve actuator

Yup those look like transmission codes, not standard OBDII codes.

Good luck but looks like there may be some issue with your tranny, Stability Control, or both.

No need to get all offended that people are telling you that it "might" be your tranny. You may be right, it could be your ABS system but no matter how much you baby the tranny in our cars, they are very well known to start failing. We have very high failure rates on our trannys (unless you are running a manual tranny)

Don't dismiss it being a tranny issue just because you treat it well. (hoping its not) We are just trying to help you out.

Hello, again, thanks for all the help. Scanner tool indicated those codes as ABS and did not throw any code for tranny. I know all the issues with the 5AT. Can someone help me a bit more:
YAW RATE SENSOR: i know it measures angular velocity but how usefull is it if I dont need the VSA system?? that sensor costs almost $500 new and not recommended to replace from totalled vehicle since they are sensitive to shock
SENSOR POWER SOURCE: that would be the power source for what? the ECM? the ABS module? or for the VSA system?
TCS CONTROL VALVE: that is another $450... if I don't really care for VSA does it make sense to look into this? (that is the control valve in throttle body)
