Dim Headlights

Recent buyer of a 1998 Acura CL 3.0. Since owning the car I have had to replace the battery. I mention that because it might be relevant in a moment. While driving at night I notice that the headlights seem very dim. Looking at the lights from outside the car they appear to be a golden, nearly yellow color...definitely not white or off white (obviously don't have xenon lights). Friends have even asked if I had my lights on while we are driving, it's that bad. Is this normal? If not, what might be the culprit if not the battery? Thanks for any tips.

Get some PIAAs or Nokya bulbs if you dont want to spend a lot. More expensive options are HID conversion and projectors. By the way, you are a first gen. You will get a much better response in the first gen section. Car talk is unofficially the second gen. section.

Thanks for the tips, both with the lights and the board. I appreciate it.

i wonder if your alternator is going bad, or possibly a bad ground.

you should have your electrical system checked.

Nah, our first gens just have shitty low beams. Hit the high beams and it's liek whoa! Do the 9005 switch for the low beams (see the 1st gen section) or get an HID kit.

the sylvania silverstars bulbs are great imo and only $20 a piece. i got a pair for high beam duty when they came out and never looked at any other bulbs again.

Take a good look at the bulbs .Chances are they are not any good anymore .I have seen for some unknown reasons that first gen CL's like to kill low beam bulbs .
