A super charger uses the cars energy to drive the compressor (like a fan belt to turn it). A Turbo charger uses exhause gasses to turn the compressor. Super charger takes some of the engine power, but is available all the time. Whereas a trubo charger doesn't use the engine power, but has a slight lag as the exhaust gasses build up to turn the compressor.

Well, Turbo generally has a "LAG"...which means the time that it takes to wind the turbine (which is dependant on your exhaust pressure). An SC has no lag and starts producing boost as soon as you step on the gas (Belts spin faster, turbine spins).

I'd say an SC is better, but turbo's generally produce a larger amount of boost.

One other consideration is that with the turbo, you have moving parts right in the middle of the VERY hot exhaust output, which over time wears out the bearings. Granted, turbos created now-a-days are much better, but I myself would probably opt for the SC just for the reliability standpoint.

The one that fits your car and your needs is the best.

$$$$$$$$$$$

Well, I'd say the biggest difference between s/c and turbo is cost. Turbocharging is a very expensive proposition. Most applications are 2x the money of supercharging.

(Mind you, I'm talking about naturally aspirated cars and putting on a s/c or turbo here)
