Did Comptech know something about the upcoming 6 speed?

I think it's kind of funny that Comptech would have started production for the supercharger if they didn't have some inside info that the 6 speed was coming out. I mean really, who here is going to be the brave one to slap that monster supercharger on their automatic transmission. Can you say fried tranny? They must have known....
I mean, if they took the S2000 from 240-360 HP than imagine that a supercharger for us would easily put us up to 380-400 HP!! And that would lead to other mods such as fuel pressure regulators and the likes to optimize performance. Add the standard headers etc and we could be talking a serious contender. How much HP can our block handle? Interesting.... Can you say "traction limited"?

Hopefully there will be a tranny upgrade for us automatic/SS owners so we can use said SC too. I'd hate to be left out of the performance market just because I don't have a stick.

Hell, most other cars (I'm thinking of Camaros/Mustangs) can use the same SC no matter if auto or manual, but both trannys require upgrading before they can handle a hardcore SC.

I don't see a Comptech SC'd CL-S putting out any more than 340hp at the crank. I don't think they'll boost it that much. Even at 340hp it will be severely traction limited. It's arguably somewhat traction limited in stock form with the crappy Michelins.

As for whether or not they knew... I doubt it. Keep in mind... this SC is first and foremost for the Accord... not the CL/TL. There's TONS of Accord coupes out there and it's a much bigger market for Comptech than the CL/TL.

The paxton supercharger is directly tied to RPM's (Its like a turbocharger driven by a belt instead of exhaust gas), the higher your rpms go, the more boost it can produce. Seeing that the V6's have a much lower redline than the S2000, our potential is probably less.

That's just a guess on my part though.

I'm sure it will still kick some butt though!

Gearing.
You just change the pulley size of the supercharger to change the ratio of engine rpms to supercharger rpms. Doesn't matter what rpms the engine maxes at... it just needs to be geared right.

The supercharger may be cost prohibitive for production. That may be why they are dragging their feet. Based on the cost for the headers and exhaust, and what they charge for the S2000 sc, my guess is that you would be talking close to 6k for the SC and tranny upgrade. Then you have to think about fuel pressure regulators, traction and handling concerns, etc...
Add that to the 2k+ you paid for the headers, exhaust, sways, CAI and you are already up to 40,000. Might as well have bought a higher end car...
