did anyone

did anyone here about the recall on the cl. I just bought my 03 cl-s two weeks ago and yesterday the service manager called me telling me about the recall. They say it has to do with the water malfunctioning, which can break the timing belt. So i have an appointment to have them inspect it. Hopefully it is fine because she said it would take a couple of days. Everyone should be receiving this call soon. Good Luck!

I haven't heard anything yet either.

I'm assuming you meant "malfunctioning water pump" and not "malfunctioning water". That just sucks though.

What exactly do they have to do to it? I don't see how an inspection could fix a water pump that is prone to malfunction. It would make more sense if they had to replace it, right?

I’ll have to check the “My Acura” page that I have set up over on the Acura website.
I believe they have all the recalls listed there.

I don’t have the password with me here at work.

I just checked the Owners Link (from acura.com) and it hasn't listed any recall information about this.

How is it that dealers would start calling people before acura has even updated their own info?

Well, truthfully the Acura website doesn’t have too good a record with “timely updates”.

What is involved is alot of work ! I just had my timing belt changed and while they were there (open heart surgrey), they changed my water pump and thermostat on my Honda Accord Coupe EX "V-6". They told me I one of the first they had done. They also changed the "main" oil gasket between the engine and the tranny ! All this was tons of labor and a cost of $850.00 ! Had they NOT been pro-active with that gasket, it would have been another $850.00 to change that. These repairs are new to the Honda dealerships in most cases. My Honda is approaching 100,000 miles strong.

My CLS is doing fine at 53,000 miles !
