di-noc eblem.

I originally was going to do all flat black emblems, but decided to debadge the car but keep the front & rear Acura emblems. I had a test sample of 3M's Black Carbon Di-Noc, so I gave it a try on the rear emblem. I think it turned out pretty well... The hand cut adhesive strip was actually the hard part. lol

I will start working on the new front grill & emblem this up coming weekend hopefully.

Actually, this is my first time working with Di-Noc, and my first time wrapping an emblem. I used a nice Milwaukee heat gun and it made it a lot easier to stretch and mold corners. I ordered more as this was from a sample sheet. I'm going to try to do the entire front grill this weekend in black carbon and then the front emblem will be in white di-noc. Next, the interior.

The sample was only about $5 but I could do 4 emblems with the sheet I was given. The stuff is ordered by the foot....
12"x48" - $20+shipping
24"x48" - $40+shipping
and so on

I only ordered a 12"x12" in the white since I'm only using it for the front emblem and they wouldn't let me order a smaller amount or "sample".
After shipping I'll be getting a 12x48 black & 12x12 white for $32.00 roughly.

I'm just hoping that will be enough to wrap like this:

Should I take step-by-step photos of the process?

Thats not that bad for something that would cost the same to spray paint in the end not looking as good. Cant wait to see it finished. Im looking for another stock grill piece Im tired of the mesh RJ look alike I made and cant take it out because i cut out the whole center section. Blah

So, a few people saw the emblem locally and want theirs wrapped as well. I told them I will charge $3 for the supplies and $10 for my time per emblem. I was curious whether people on here would be down for this same deal? I may order a lot more and can do this on the side. The wrapped emblem will include new 3m adhesive tape to remount the emblem. Just an idea. Plus Di-Noc comes in multiple colors to match the color scheme you're going for.

Just charge them 15 dollars flat.

If you need more Di-Noc, there's a guy selling some extra for 4 bucks a foot I think in the bay area. So check out the bay area thread in under california.

Well, I'm not going to be doing any from online until I figure if it's worth doing... I would obtain replacement emblems first and then just ship them out with a prepaid return label. That way you get what you want faster and I will have a replacement set for the next request. I used to do custom upholstery like shift boots, console covers and such and that's how I worked it back then. I'll let you know soon enough though.

Yeah if you're promoting services on the site they'll shut this thread down. FYI.

I was just asking if there was interest in it. I would post the stuff on ebay most likely rather than on here.

I used 3M emblem tape to reapply the emblems. I still had to trim/cut down the edges, but I will have to get better at that! lol

The white di-noc came in last night, I'm just waiting on the black now to get this project started for the weekend. Hopefully I can get the grill done on Saturday.

Yeah no worries just passing along the info.

Typically it's required for you to be vendor to extend services publicly and I've seen a bunch of threads get shut down for similar stuff.

Yeah, I've seen that too and it happened to me when I was talking to a guy about wrapping interior pieces for him about a year ago. That's why I just post either a weblink or ebay posting for the services so it's not on here. Thanks

I'm in the middle of the whole thing.... Omaha, NE... lol I have yet to meet anyone off AZ. Although, there was a 2G TL-S last night at a meet that left before I could talk to him, but he had a sticker on his rear window that said AcuraZine.com. It was that dark silver, lowered on 3g TL wheels with dark tint but sounded stock.

BTW - do the wood grain inserts on the doors and rear 1/4 interior panels clip on or would I have to actually remove the door panels to get them off?

I thought they were part of the door panel but I could be mistaken so you had to remove the door panel.

Check this guy's thread...he would know or maybe it's in his thread that I read a little while back.

I looked through the thread but nothing in there actually shows how those pieces were removed... Local scrap yard had the black dash, doors & seats... going to see if I can pull them for cheap cheap so I'd have a black & tan interior with some di-noc highlights

Well I'd just message him if it did or not because it looks like he's worked with those pieces quite a few times.

I was trying same thing but couldnt take it off. My plan is to wrap it with di noc graphite.
Let me know if you find a way to remove those panels. If not i'll do it without removing them.

Will do. I may not get to the interior for a few weeks. I have to move soon and started packing and have to pay a HUGE deposit on the new place due to my dogs.

Looks like the DIY for the woodgrain was from a TL:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...light=Speakers

The woodgrain pieces are plastic riveted in place. You can either use plastic melt injection (expensive but OEM) or you can use a high end epoxy to reinstall the panels.

I had to do this on my old civic for the arm rest inserts, so at least I know what I'm getting into this time. hahaha

i used a screw driver to pry and break em then put them back with some epoxy and i kinda pryed the plastic back into place.

Well, the black di-noc wasn't delivered Saturday like the tracking said it was going to be, so I just got the front emblem wrapped in white and rewrapped the rear emblem in white as well. Hopefully the black will be delivered today so I can wrap the grill:

As you can see, to make the some of the corners, you have to cut the vinyl which leaves gaps in the corners, these gaps were covered up with touch up paint. I painted the rear emblem before wrapping it so help conceal the areas that were not covered. You can also see the wrinkle on the outside edge, as that will be removed hopefully tonight and recovered as well. The paint shop didn't have the mix for taffeta paint and is supposed to be in later this week.

Exclamation Done... For now

I'm going to have to redo it eventually, but this will work for now.

Here's the whole process. I skipped the insert piece as it was a HUGE pain compared to the entire grill:

Let's begin:

Got the main piece cut out and setting on the grill:

Starting to take form:

Cut some of the vents open:

Grill done, but still needs some touch ups:

Finished project with the chrome insert wrapped:

On the Car (with bad lighting, as it actually looks better in person):

Let me know what you think....
