I know, like that's really hard to do, especially since it was only a GT and I have twice the hp he has, but it was my first real race, so I figured I'd share with everyone.

So I'm cruising down this 6 lane road (3 each way) and of course I've got 3 slow idiots next to each other barely doing the speed limit, if even. I pull behind this guy in a Celica (no passengers) cause it looks like my best bet. I guess he got the idea cause he starts goin a lot faster. So I catch up and pass him as my drunk passenger laughs at his car. He hangs behind and on my right for a little while until we get to a red light. Unfortunately the far right lane turns into a right turn only lane and there's already someone at the light. So I get infront in the left lane and the Celica gets behind the other car in the middle lane.

When the light turned green I accelerate enough to get past the first car and then I change lanes to the right to make room for the Celica. Sure 'nough he cuts left and starts comin up beside me. I was gonna wait till we were side by side, but he decided to just punch if from behind me. I notice him comin up pretty fast so I throw it in SS and down shift a couple gears. But it was too late he was already comin around me and then he cut infront of me cause another car pulled into the left lane. Well after he cut infront I was already floring it and I almost immediately caught him. I had to hit the brakes to keep from hitting him till we got past that car in the left lane. But once we did, I flored it again and cut left, flying around him like he was sittin still. I shut her down at about 85mph, b/c by that time I could barely see him in my mirror.

I know it wasn't really a fair race, but it was still fun to beat someone that badly.

Good kill with your ride. I fuggin' hate Celicas cause they are so annoying..especially those stupid ass commercials on TV that make the CELICA look like a real sports car.

If it were a GTS it would of been a much better race, of course, though the GT's aren't dogs themselves, one guy on the celica board ran a 14.8 with I/E and removed back seats.

Been there done that. I beat a Celica GTS not long ago.

 

don forget the commercial when the dog runs str8 into the celica and the car actually shakes that commercial was hilarious

 

So what does that mean, there are little stock Si's claiming they beat CL-S's, im not saying the Cl-s should lose. THe Cl is a easier car to drive fast, the GTS is not easy, takes a good driver to get full potential out of it..........its just that i have owned both cars and i have seen 1/4 times from both boards and though there are more CL-S owners in the mid 14's and low 14's, there are quite a few of GTS owners in the low 14's too with just intake and exhaust.

 

I heard they had trouble with 6-speed GTS's... people were blowing tranny's from down shifting... I test drove one about a year and half ago and they did not feel right for me...

Yeah and the same crap was happening with RSX-S owners. Any tranny will blow if you're going 100mph and you go from 6th to 2nd instead of 4th.

 

AHH yes the old fried tranny, i was subject to that, and it is not the cars fault as Scrib said but it is not from 6th to 2nd it is 99% of the time from 3rd to 2nd..........myself i was racing my friend and i was getting too used to gripping the shifter around the sides and i was at 8300rpms in 3rd went to go to 4th, instead hit 2nd and floored it.

It was covered and i learned how to shift my car correctly and it never happened again.
