deno iridium plugs

any of yall who have these installed can honestly say you notice a difference? Please remove the placebo affect. I'm trying to see if spending $80 on this would be snake oil.

I dunno.. there is one dyno on the acura-tl.com site that gave 3 more hp.. but the only way to really know is to dyno your car with brand new stock spark plugs and compare that to a dyno with the densos.. if there is a gain of 3 hp.. that cannot really be felt.. I think it is people's imagination and mental 'wanting' to fell a difference for adding a mod sometimes... it can help if you have 'old' plugs

As with all things new...you have a break-in period...before everything is working like clockwork. Sparkplugs are a huge debate....remember spitfires...
But Iridiums are being produced by 2 of the biggest OEM manufacturers in Japan...Denso and NGK...so, figure...if nothing else..you'll probably get some better gas mileage...

I think that because the IK16s are the ones that should be used in a stock type S, that by running the IK20s, you should expect to see a correlation between the benfit recieved and the number of mods you already have, this shouldn't be one of your first purchases. Afterall our cars come with triple platinum plugs already!

Platinum are good for longevity purposes...thus the 100K tune-up...but they are poor conductors..

I think even if you swapped to copper plugs it would respond better...note my above post...

You nailed part of it and the placebo effect is well documented…

A back-to-back test of a Acura 2001 CL Type S (would be nice to see the “comparo” with headers and CAI) with brand new (factory recommended) Platinums vs. the Denso Iridiums would be the best dyno test of all.

Go to the Denso site, and depending on the graph, the plug makes more power in some areas, less in others. The most important attribute would be to measure the "total area" under to torque or HP curve to see what was gained.

Comparing a "used" factory Platinum to an Iridium is interesting, but only proves that a new Denso Iridium plug will make more power than a used Platinum.

BTW -- I've always felt a "placebo" or boost from putting in new plugs. The do like the sharp edges -- worn plugs have rounded edges (which is not good for electrical discharges).

I bet it does... Just wondering if we will ever see a dyno graph as described...
