Demolished an 01 Gt

Not 100% sure on the year, but it is the last gen mustang gt. Not sure if it was auto or manual either. Anyways, i exited the freeway and saw a GT getting impatient with some of the slow moving traffic. I pass by him eventually and give it some gas to see if he is interested. The light comes next, and he is right next to me.
I wasnt sure if anything was going to happen, so i didnt prepare much, just had it in SS, vsa on, and so on. He takes off somewhat light and then punches it. He was half a car ahead when i began chase, and before the end of 1st i was already a car ahead. He did manage to keep up in 1st till i hit vtec, so i knew he was trying. Then i got a few more car lengths in 2nd, and 2 more by mid 3rd. Overall i had about 6-7 car lengths on him by around 5600-5700 rpm in 3rd. He did have a passenger though.
At the next light, he didnt even look over, just made a right and played it off as if nothing happened. He was a pretty big guy and i bet he was hella embarressed for getting smoked by a 4 door, especially since his cute girlfriend/wife? was sitting next to him! I thought the GT would of put up more of a fight than that, but it looks like it wasnt much of a challenge. Cant wait to run a 05 GT, that should put up a good fight!

Now come on, why would you think an '01 GT would put up a fight with a blown J32A2?? And yes, the '05 will put up a much better fight!

Good Kill.

BTW . . . I wonder how fast an 04 GT with a chip is? Any clues?

Congrats on the kill!

BTW, bone stock GT's are high 13 second cars, bone stock, with the right driver. Local guy here did 13.6 and 13.7 with his 99 and 04 GTs, respectively.

Sounds like I need to knock another .5 secs off my times to even have a chance.

Oh well . . . gives me something to work for.

Are you saying his '99 ran 13.6 and his '04 ran 13.7?? I can believe the '04 but a bone stock '99 ran 13.6??

The best I've ever seen a 'bone stock' <'04 GT run is low 14's. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have I seen anyone run in the 13's. Not doubting you saw it, just doubting the guy was telling the truth when he said he was stock.

Yep. 99s and 04s are mechanically identical BTW.

Bone stock, thousands of witnesses here in our local community. Hard to believe, yes, but they are high 13 sec cars when driven right. His only "mod" was a removed headlight for better airflow (for both cars)... I can accept that as "stock".

i think we need to let that go, because 99% of people out there will not be able to do that. the track prep must be really good and the conditions are more than ideal for that guy to run those times in stock cars!
also, track times dont matter as much on the street, especially since most races are never done with proper launches from a stop.
I am not doubting that he was able to do it, but he's one in thousands of good drivers that can pull that off. And who knows if he is damaging the car each time he gets these times.
what were the mph's?

Well he did it at a rather shitty track here locally, but they do lay down the VHT on the odd night. Yes I agree the track conditions must be ideal, and that mose guys will never see 13s from a stock GT. But he's done it , and I know of at least one other guy that knocked off a 13.9 locally. I believe their traps were 99 or 100, but don't quote me on it. The only thing I am 100% of is of the 13.6, 13.7 and 13.9 runs.

Good stuff man... don't waste your time with stock GT's!!

I ran a new GT coupe the other day in the hot sun... embarrassed him with my A/C on, but those things are quite quick actually!

An '01 GT and I ran a 13.93@101. So now you know. I even have the time slips if you want to see them. Don't have the car anymore though...

99-04 GT's are good for high 13's out the box. Now the new 05 stangs ran low 13's, one even broke into the 12's with minor suspension modifications, and some exhaust intake and bolts ons of that sort. If used right with forced induction the new 3-Valve 4.6L SOHC GT's is comparable to the 2003 Cobra's, it will put a hurt on many cars out there.

Power - You spanked that 2005 Stang GT 2night, but only because he was an idiot and didn't know how to drive. I would say you are even with that car. (from a dig of course )

Because not all mustangs are stock......and not all mustang owners don't know how to drive their cars.
