Demise of the CL next year?

I just received my July copy of Motor Trend. On page 33 they do a brief write up on the new 03' Infiniti G35 sports coupe. I think they have a winner with it personally. Anyway, while reading the article, the following paragraph that caught my attention...

"In today's market, fashionable coupes represent a certain gamble for automakers. Acura, for one, is said to be ready to abandon its 3.2 CL coupe when the new TL debuts next year"

This comment by Motor Trend, and comments about poor CL sales that I've seen posted on this site, makes me wonder if there will be a '04 CL...

It's called re-branding. Acura announced it in one of those newsletter thingies a year or two ago. As for the CL's demise. Just wait and see. Hopefully the G35 will motivate Acura to keep trying.

P.S. This topic (cl's death) has been talked about before. Search and learn other stuff

yea the CLS is dead im sure. But im sure acura will come out with a Hot coupe in a few years.

The next gen TL should be HOTT, i cant wait to see it.
I hope it will be as hot as it was when the 1999 models came out. I remember everyone was going nuts over it.

Demise???

Just remember...........absence makes the heart grow fonder. I could care less if they stop producing it since mine will be worth more when you can't buy a new one. Look what's happened to RX-7 value and Toyota Supra. Not that we own something that radical but still.......................

I hope they at least make an '04 model. It would be a shame
if there was just a few 6spds built. (2700 for '03 ?)

My college bud works at the Honda plant in OH which makes the CL's. He told me last wknd that they're definitely dropping the CL line in the next couple of years. He said the extra HP will show up in future Accords. Oh well...all great things come to an end. Can't wait for the replacement! RWD? AWD? Wake up Acura!

Hmmmm, those new Cobras with a S/C are starting to sound real nice now.

Either that or a "NISSAN".

I bought my Acura to stand out, not blend into the crowd like the Accord or Camry drivers. I don't have Bugatti money, but I like being an individual, so I chose my Acura. Wake the $&*%^*(^& up Honda! If you take something away, like the CL, give us an alternative in return. Don't kill the CL.

Acura went from red to blue for a basic reason I was told. Red = racing and blue = luxury. They wanted to get out of the racing market???
