Delay on Acceleration

Does anyone else incur this? When you punch down on the gas, does it take like a good second for the acceleration to kick in? Is that normal?

I have over 77k miles...no tranny flush yet, and no oil change since Dec '04. I know I need to clean my AEM air filter. Haven't had my major maintainence yet.

Do I need a tune-up?

Are you talking about from no throttle to accel., or from cruising to accel? Either way I think what you are referring to is automatic transmissions suck. That would be the torque converter sucking away some energy. I get pretty good acceleration when I punch it

I have an automatic and it dont take that long to accelerate... I actually feel it pretty soon (like less than half a second).

its going to take a little second before it will accelerate. if you have a manual it will accelerate on the dime as you switch gears... big difference between manual and a manual sport shift....

I could be cruising @ 55mph, and want to punch it, but it takes like a solid second to react.

I'm in SportShift 90% of the time and I don't know what it is, but when I shed a gear and punch it, I get very decent acceleration and the entire thing takes probably <0.4 seconds. If you brake very lightly/smoothly when downshifting, it speeds up the shift (learned it while using engine braking to slow my newly washed car (fuck you, brake dust!)). Also, if it isn't obvious, take your foot off the gas pedal right before the tranny upshifts. My car lunges forward at every gear shift when I go balls out. I gate shift if I'm really serious about it but the 2>3 gearshift in SS my way always feels better than the 1>2 auto tranny gear shift @ WOT.

I'll try flooring it out of SS today... never tried it in full auto.
