defective brakes?

My front brakes make an annoying grinding sound when released from a stop position. This is especially noticeable when moving off
from an incline. Is this due to the ABS? My 95 Camry is super quiet but it does not have ABS.
Any feedback would be appreciated...

You may want to pull a tire or two and check out your pads and calipers. Run your thumb across the discs to and check for uniformity. Sometimes dirt and crap gets in there and grinds around. Make sure that your pads are not worn down to the safety tabs either. Only use brake cleaner to clean parts down there, anything else will cause damage.
