Dear CL Auto Owners,
Dear CL Auto Owners,
How does it feel to drive with a ticking time bomb between your legs?
I know I don't feel great. My first transmission went out at 50k and I'm about to hit 100k with the 2nd. My friend's 2G TL is on it's 4th at 130k.
My dilemma is pretty simple,
Do I have my transmission swapped to a 6spd, keep all my invested mods (including a 6spd header) and favorite color combo (white/black)?
or
Turn the car more or less back to stock and sell it. Then turn around and buy a 6 spd and mod that one again.
Help me out on this one guys.

Sell it stock keep the mods and get cl-s 6speed or if u need 4 doors then swap it. There is one more option to swap the tranny from odyssey or new 06+ tl. There is a thread in problems section.
@edit
i thought u got a tl.

You live in Socal, you have the luxury of buying a real sports car as I would think you don't ever get snow.
You have more options then us folk up North who have a Winter Season which would limit our choices for Daily Driven cars (I assume your CL is your daily driver?)

Sigh, another one of these...
Run the auto to the ground and then swap in an oddy or tl trans for half the price that a 6mt swap would cost you or replacing/rebuilding the stock 5at would. You then have a much more reliable car that should get at least 200k out of the trans. I myself am on my original trans with 132k and counting.. I plan to do either a 6mt or oddy/tl swap when/if it blows- just depends how much money I have to spend when the time comes. GL

you''l be hard press to find a 6spd in the wht/blk combo. the tranny swap should ultimately cost less than buying a 6spd (that's if you can find one near you). either way start saving and when the time come, see which one make the most financial sense.
there are just too many good cars now to bother buying the cl again.especially with fuel prices and such, althought the cl is pretty good with respect to fuel consumption.
i'd personally sell the auto and buy the 6speed and then start over again.
when u change over the auto to a standard when u go to sell it if u ever do that is... when the trans doesn't match the vin number (i.e it should of had an auto) that makes people nervous.
i'd get the car built like u want it... 6 speed then go from there.. you'll likely have less headaches as well.
