Dean's tranny upgrade

I spoke to Dean today and he told me his beefed up 5AT trannies are getting better and better as we speak. They are trying to get a core in, so they can sell these completely rebuilt trannies and have you send your old core back in. Also, working on reducing freight costs.

Highlight #1 - Stage 2 tranny upgrade ($3500) is awesome according to Dean. 1500rpm increase in TC, but still very good for everyday driving. He said he was able to chirp the tires in 3rd!

Highlight #2 - Austin, who has the 3.5L upgrade, is going to have his CT blower put on soon, so we can see the real gains on a 3.5L supercharged CL.

Lastely - xkrazix (I think) is getting the stage 3 3.5L upgrade (9.0:1 CR), boosting it w/ direct port N2O, and the stage 2 tranny upgrade. Now that is someone you don't want to mess with when he's done.

Man I hope I have the bucks to blow if my tranny blows.

And if it doesn't, I wish I'll have the bucks to blow and get me a tranny worthy of this engine.

I'm getting it as soon as I finish the ECU tuning for Opak.

I stand corrected, it's you MtBikR. I just remembered Dean saying some guy in Arizona. Are you going custom turbo or SC? Let us know how the stage 2 tranny feels and keep us updated on your progress.

:o Just giving you a hard time it gets kinda boring down here by the border. I'll attach my sig to this post. The car w/ da juice and four guys sitting on the hood dynos around 340 fwhp, the pistons will be done in three days. I think I am the first to have such a low compression requested. But that is because we going to be running an aftercooler w/ high boost pulley as well as the 100 shot. Right now the car has been in a sound shop for the last three weeks getting the interior pdg'ed and seats recovered, then off to Scottsdale for the engine update. I wonder when I will get to drive it next? Oh well...

Damn, that's nice dude! You need some better brakes with all that power your putting out. I don't want to know how much you dropped on your car.

Btw, nice sound system.

It'd be awesome if Acura would put up however much a tranny replacement is towards an upgraded tranny and just let me cover the difference. :x:

Or just do the same for a 6 speed swap

Same to you. I checked out your sounddomain page, nice setup. I like the look that you've put together, very clean and classly look on the satin. I don't know mouch about your McIntosh amp, but it sure looks sweet, nice setup. Props

MtBikR - Thanks bro. The McIntosh amp (100x4) is my baby...0.005% THD all channels driven 20-20k. Makes my focals sound awesome compared to the JL 300/2 I tried.

darrinb - The tranny upgrade comes with an anti-ballooning TC w/ stall increased by 1500rpm. This transfers more power to the wheels since the TC does not expand. Hence, 3rd can chirp the tires.

Cool!

I think I'll stay with the national Acura racing transmission service team until 100k. They seem to be able to do my car in 2-3 days now.

??? They can do you car in 2-3 days now? How many times have you been in and how long has it taken them each of those times?

Even if they are down to 2-3 days, they should have fixed it right the first time. :P

I'm on my thrid tranny.

1st lasted 19k second was about 15k. i'm at about 14k on this one. So far it seems solid.

1st 2 transmissions were prior to the "fixed" tranny and ECU.

I totally babied my car until the 1st tranny went. Then I gave up.. bought headers, intake...

jeez that really sux.

I'm just hoping if or when mine goes I've got the bucks for Deans mod. . I really don't want another stock tranny . . . fixed or not. I love the feel of a responsive tranny.

It will also help performance too. Could be as much as 2-4 tenths in the 1/4.

Does dean think all the 2003's should get the tranny upgrade? (He may be a bit bias however.)
