amen to that...i ordered some stuff from them and had the same thing. it took an entire month for my icebox to get to me when they said it would take ~10 days. they were horrible about returning my calls and letting me know what the hell was going on with my order. to top it all off, they disconnected their phone lines so i had to search and search for a legitimate phone number...im never buying from them again.

Yeah I have to agree with you. I have been waiting on a part for over a month now and no one will call back. I am going to dispute the charge with my credit card company tomorrow because I got charged a month ago and still haven't gotten my order. They used to really be on top of things.

I got almost all my stuff though dean back in November and there was a slight delay but only b/c there was a problem with one of his employees.

Customer service was still great but it sounds like its gone downhill in recent months.

Wouldn't it be easier to just post the info here

I'm not sure why a better/cheaper comptech dealer contact info needs to be such a secret. Heck, you would think the vendor would want to get the word out.

Ok, so Velocity is having problems and may not get our business any more, but who are these other 2 (or 1) alternative companies I see being referenced?

I'm just glad I got most of my mods done before Dean started backing off. Dean was always responsive and very curtious with me.

I purchased an OEM kit from C-C-C and was extreamly impressed with their service. Unfortunatey the front piece had been damaged in transit, but a new one was sent out the same day I called about it, along with a call tag to pick up the damaged one. No muss, no fuss, and I was very happy with how quickly it was taken care of. Thanks again Junior!

Hi all,

I know that I have been away from here for awhile. There is a reason for this.....

Smitty and Juniorbean touched on this as well---I do have a new full time job that is taking up much of my "free" time as I try to cultivate a new area. I am a sales/marketing person for an IME (Idependent Medical Examination) and Peer Review company. They are new to the central Florida area and it is my job to build their business and make it profitable.

I also DO still work for Velocity Resources on a part time basis and have been answering emails for as many people as I can. I just had a long conversation with Jason and AJ at the shop and they assure me that things are/will be changing. What seems to have happened in the last 60-90 days is that Comptech has had a change to the way things are done--they have brought in "efficientcy experts" to try to make things easier. This has caused many things to slow down as far as shipping things out and availability goes while they work through this process.

On the other thread Smitty had mentioned that there were some internal problems at Velocity--this USED to be true with the previous owner, who is no longer with the company. The employees have bought him out and are doing things on their own now and all of the past issues have been satisfied. Orders are no longer done via checks to Comptech as we now have a company credit card and things are processed ASAP.

I know I have taken some heat on here and a couple of other sites, but I can assure you that I will be here to answer for things again.

Please let me know if you have any specific questions and I will try to get you an answer as fast as I can.

Thank you for your time and understanding

Dean Baty

I'm more interested in the built tranny. 100k miles will be here before we know it and I'll need to do something to ensure my CL-S will be on the road for years to come.

I placed an order with him last thursday for a set of Comptech mufflers. I will let you know how that goes, but he seems like a very nice guy, very busy though.

Sorry that you guys have had such trouble. I know that there have been some changes made at Comptech and that has effected orders. I also know that VR has had some adjustments: new ownership + moving to new improved shop/location.
They have been great to me and putting together perhaps the quickest (I know competituion is getting hotter)TL-S in the country 13.68 @ 102.56.
I have dealt more directly with VR and not so much with Dean but if he is still in the thick of it I'm sure the things will look up.
I do have the rebuilt tranny and it now has ; as of 2 weeks ago, the carbon/graphite clutches. No track results as of yet. I'll keep you guys posted next time I go to the track.

Here are the mods for the 13:68 run:
Comptech: sc + HBP
Comptech: header, B-pipe + axle back
Random Tech: high-flow metal core cat
Mugen: t-stat, fan switch + cap
UR: crank + ps pulleys
Velocity Resources rebuilt tranny with LSD, High stall conv. kevlar clutches
235/45-17 Mich. Pilot sports

Since that last run the car now has the carbon graphite clutches instead of the kevlars and new solenoids. The tires now are a 245/45-17 Goodyear ZR's.
I don't have any new track #s.

I also have a Payn tech HBP pulley with interccoler on order. I'll keep you guys posted with the new times.

Nice setup
How is the everyday drivability with the VR tranny, sport shift still work with this ? Just curious, I don't know about the design of this tranny.

It's my daily/track driver and it performs great. The SS and gate shift works with it but I don't use it much. The greatest asset is the limited slip.

The good news is that UR now has a 12 volt light weight crank pulley which doesn't change the alternator speed, thus no reduction in boost.

Intercooler? More info.

Also, if you don't mind, how much was the tranny? Just the tranny, not the install. Thanks.

For anyone interested in the 3.5L upgrade and/or the tranny upgrades, Dean's original post has pricing info. Prices may have changed from when he first posted this and it sounds like they're having problems getting MDX rods that are made of steel ...

I wonder if those prices include the core charge of your original transmission??

Oh BTW, LiQiCE, I got down to a 14.3@98 on that shitty track today on my last run.

As for the intercooler: It'll be a different setup then Scalberts. We are going with a Vortech unit and doing some custom fabricating/piping. We're also installing the reservoir ice water can where the battery is. The battery itself is going to be relocated to the trunk. Once VR is finished with the install I'll have dyno and track #s for you guys. It should perform great at the track.
As for the tranny: I paid the full install price on the unit. I'm not sure about just the tranny cost but do expect to pay an additional $400(+-) for the carbon/graphite clutches.
I hope this helps.

Yeah i see they now have the Ulltra Sc 12-Volt Crank Pulley as well.

Lets say you already had the Ultra SS Pulleys (3) before you got the S/C. Now you can just order the Ultra Sc 12-Volt Charger Series Crank Pulley and keep using the other two (P/S & Alt) from the original Ultra SS pulleys right?

The S/C is driven from the alt pulley, so the alt pulley will be replaced with the one from the S/C kit.

wow, thats ALOT of work, holy shit.

i was recently thinking about chipping my A6 2.7T, and i was thinking to myself, good lord, the chip, with the setting i want is nearly 1000 dollars!! for a computer chip!! and then i saw this post and see how much you had to invest into a CL to get it to go 13.68 and all i can say is wow, that chip doesnt seem so expensive anymore considering with just that chip, my 3,700 lbs A6 will beat your car that youve spent thousands and thousands to get to that level.
