dealership not cooperating
my dad took the cl in today to have the front lower arm ball joint check out because i believe its leaking grease.
the dealership says they cant replace it under warraty, unless i put back the stock shocks. they also said if the tranny went out, they cant replace that because of my aftermarket suspension.
so....putting back the shocks (i believe the fronts will do or do i have to put back all 4?), i should have the boot fixed under warranty, but the tranny issue?
some fill me in please

1st the dealership has to replace your transmission bc it has nothing to do with your suspension and the bad tranny problem has occured in plenty of stock cl's. Print out the The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act off the sema website and bring it to your dealership before you go changing your whole suspension setup bc the IMO the dealership is blowing smoke....

thats my 2 cents and/or i just got real lucky having PAA as my dealership...

serramonte acura is one of worst dealers around. mike harvey in burlingame is bad as well. don't know if it's still true now but, a few years ago i heard that they were under the same managment.
i think hopkins is good. i only brought the car in once for something very minor and i received great service. i bought the car there too.
i too hear that pleasanton acura is good as well.

I get my work done at Acura of Pleasanton. They are very friendly and helpful. When I went in for the recall thing, they called me later that day and said they were going to order me a new tranny and to keep the loaner I got for the week. I didnt even have to ask about it. They install aftermarket parts (even non comptech) there per the Service Manager Brent Ward and I'm sure they wont hassle you about your aftermarket parts there.

That's a BS dealer. Take it some place else. I had my tranny replaced and the dealer while working on it discovered that I had a leak on one of my struts and changed that too. Even though my car is lowered. Some dealers are OK with mods, some of them are just assholes.
Read that SEMA doc from LINNER.

The dealership must understand that the trannies are failing despite what you may do to the car in reference to aftermarket parts. They know there is no connection between your suspension and your transmission, and the tranny fails whether the car is supercharged or bone stock. I could see if you have the S/C and/or N20 and they wanted to void your warranty. But changing shocks is nothing. In fact, many consumers go with aftermarket shocks because they are generally cheaper than the stock shocks e.g. KYB GR2's.
