Angry Dealership damages bodykit...

Goddamn. So, I'm at 96K km and so, it's apparently the mileage where my timing belt needs to be changed out and some "Type 4" servicing is required...I'm already a bit sore about the price-tag. Fine...$1055.

So, I go to pick up my car, I find out my rotors are warped and they'll need replacement too soon...Lovely. I'll think about that...

As I walk to my car, I check the front because I always worry that each time a service guy drives my car at the dealership, he's not careful and drives it too far ahead in the parking stall and hence, rams the kit into the concrete.

Lo and behold...they did. So, I'm fuming already at the $1055 bill and now, they damaged my Versus lip kit. FUCK. So, I call the service adviser and tell her what happened and she tells me that the manager is gone for the day and we can't settle this until tomorrow. I have a bad feeling this won't end well. Goddamn, I'm pissed.

Sorry, needed to rant.

I hope so...I'm just worried that they're gonna give me some bullshit about how I damaged it before and am just trying to foot the bill on them.

That sucks Yum...

Oh, timing belt replacement isn't due till 105K miles (you're at 60K miles now) unless you drive in "severe" conditions...

WHAT...?!?!? So, did they lie to me...?

Or do you mean "severe" as in harsher climate, Greenie...?

FROM ACURA's Maintenance schedule:

Use this schedule if the vehicle is driven mainly in any of these severe conditions:
• Less than 5 miles per trip or, in freezing temperatures, less than 10 miles per trip.
• In extremely hot weather (over 90_F).
• Extensive idling or long periods of stop-and-go driving, such as a taxi or
commercial vehicle.
•Trailer towing, driving with a roof-top carrier, or driving in mountainous
conditions.
• On muddy, dusty, or de-iced roads.

http://john-perry.com/acurazine/docu...aintenance.pdf

If you don't fit into one of these then I would say the stealership strikes again.

I guess since you are in Canada then you drive on de-iced roads and would be considered severe.

From my experience, taking your car to the dealer for service is the the number one harsh and sever condition. Bob

Well, where else would I go...?

They keep the maintenance schedule supposedly of our cars...if I take it to any mechanic's place, there's no schedule, right?

if you keep track of the receipts from the other mechanics you take it to, then you should be fine i would think.

I'm sure the dealer has a check in sheet for the car that lists where all the damages are, so they will be able to tell right away if it was there or not. The dealer shouldn't give you a hard time as this isn't exactly the rarest of occurrences. If they do, you know never to go there again.

Everyone can keep track of all of their maintenance at The Acura Owner's Page. I use it and it works great.

What's wrong with versus? The RJ kit is nice, but does everyone need to have the same thing?

Sorry about your car Yumchah. Like Mclaren said, you shouldn't have a hard time at the dealership as long as the condition of the car is noted on the check in sheet. Good luck!

Sorry about the kit, but you got taken by that dealer big time. Sounds like you need to buy a service manual & read up on the maintenance your car needs.

I kinda like the TL front spoiler on the CL... But I like the RJ kit more than the Versus...

Remember, Yumchucks has had his kit on for a LONG time... so it was the only one available back then...

Damn, I which that Acura had made a kit for our CL (like they had for the TL and TSX).

Thanks for the replies and input guys...

Gave the service manager a call this morning and matter-of-factly pointed out that my lip has damage. Told him that the 3M right at the tip of the lip is mangled, the eurethane black is exposed, and paint is cracked all around it...

He paused and then said he'll look into it--speak to the people who worked on it--as well as the service advisor that I showed the damage to yesterday...

Here's hoping...

Will try!

Question (probably answered a bajillion times already) Greenie: Why do I have to log into all the forums separately...? Like, if I log into OT, why does the CL forum need me to login as well...?

Sorry to hear about the dealership damaging your car. I feel for ya. I had a similar experience myself if it makes you feel any better. Just stay on top of them and don't give up on having them fix your car. Eventually they'll fix it just to get you out of their hair.

Yeah it was a royal pain the ass. Finally the new leather on the passenger seat is starting to fade and match the drivers side more, sans the wear lines. When the first put it on though it was way different than the drivers side. It had less shine to it and looked more greyish-black than deep black, and it was obviously flawless. At least they covered the cost and hooked me up with a loaner TL, that is after they tried telling me I'd have to rent a car for the day out of pocket. I just stood my ground and finally they gave in. Good luck on your repair and let us know what the outcome is.

^ Thanks!

My poor CL-S has been taking a beating lately. I've noticed recently two small dents along the driver side door from @$$holes who just can't open their own doors without swinging it out at full force...

And to add insult to injury, last year...some idiot working at my office's parkade dropped (likely a pipe) onto my trunk leaving several small chips and dents on it. I was livid but no one owned up to it...so, I'm SOL.

I'm just worried that this is going to be the same case with my car's lip...

^^ I'd say you have a much better chance of having your lip fixed since it was the dealership that did it. Buisnesses know that word of mouth is the largest form of advertising for them, so if you have to threaten them with that or calling Acura corporate then you have to do what you have to do. Again, just don't let them blow you off, stay on top of it and annoy the shit out of them. They'll fix it.

Are you allowed to hijack your own thread ??

The forums are actually in different databases (CL,RL,TL,TSX, etc)... but they share the same membership database...

The membership was merged back in 2005 (IIRC), but the forums are still separate. That's why I can't move a cartalk or ramblings type thread from here to the offtopic forums (cartalk, ramblings, auto news, etc)...

It works tho'....

you shouldn't have left w/o them taking pictures, you are probably screwed now...when you go back when the manager is "there" (there should always be some sort of a manager i.e. Service adviser manager, parts manager, service director, gm, etc.) they're just going to tell you that there no proof that it happened there.....

I think he's stalling...but, yeah, I'll give him a chance first...
