Dealer use a drive through car wash?
I just got my CLS back with my "new" transmission.
Anyway, the dealer washed and vaccumed the car for me wich is causing me to question their procedure. On my stock wheels, only the face of the rim is clean, anything not directly parallel with the side of the car is still covered in brake dust. Reminiscent of what you would get at a drive through car wash. You can even see scrub marks where the scrubber didnt get the side of the wheel spoke.
Did they use a drive through? It just seems impossible that the douchbag washing my rims is too lazy to move his sponge an extra inch.
Is it me or does anyone else have a serious problem with a dealer using a drive through car wash? Maybe is just me....

Where is my super sauce?
What did you expect? A professional detailing job. It's a free wash and the dealer gives you what you pay for...
If you care about your car's finish don't let the dealer wash it. There are all sorts of stories here about dealers not giving the weak CL finish the TLC it needs.
The dealer local to me uses an automatic car wash. I follow Nancy's advice and "Just say no".
This reminds me of our friend bdheilig. Now where did he go too?

I guess some things you learn by doing slimey. Ive only owned my car a month now and it never occured to me that they would use and drive through.
I did not expect a professional detail. I also did not expect a drive through. Come to think of it, i didnt expect a smart ass either. Somewhere in the middle of all that was my expectation. I guess i know now what to expect now. Thanks for the insight.

The dealer I worked for had a car wash machine built into their shop. Then the detailer would touch it up and finish it off.

Congrats on getting your car back...
Mine is in the shop and they are supposed to get the car done my Friday. I doubt it. But they gave me a TL with 13K on it, so I am good.
I did ask when I first went to the dealer and he assured me the carwash was safe. I have had no problems with scratches. Just not 100% clean.

It is a free car wash! I don't think those guy that wash your car give a damn. They are there all day under the sun and getting paid peanuts. That is why I never let my local dealer wash my car, not even the dealer I work in.

i dont have such a problem with drive through car washes myself, i use them here and there. I just never throught the dealer would. Especially at this Acura - ive been all over the lot and have not seen a drive through anywhere.
So now i picture the shady lot guys mobbin my car down to the local chevron car wash. (only one within 2 miles of the place).
The lot guys remind me of the valets in Ferris Bueller's Day off. So now all i can think about is the part where ferris Ferris drops the Ferarri off with them and they mob the car all over town. If you seen the movie, you can picture what im talkin about. CLS aint no Ferrari, but to these guys it may be

I do miss him. It gave me hours of enjoyment on the site, and when you all ripped into his ass

Slimey made me curious, so I did a search on bdheilig, and I read all of his posts. It was hiliarious! I don't mind him calling himself a "professional acura detailer", but he seems to be an expert in many areas, at least in his own mind. If you need a laugh, check this out. My opinion on his advice - RAILDUST!

sorry to hear it. i also made the mistake of taking my CLS to the dis-service department of my local acura dealer. besides wasting my time they washed the car even though i specifically told them NOT TO and made them mark it on the service sheet.
they didn't trash it, but they did screw up the wheels and tires. its unfortunate that they don't even care enough to follow directions.
we'd be better off with yugo service. its no better but who would care.

the dealer where i bought the car hand washes the cars, but i've never had it done.
the honda dealer where i got my oil changed uses a machine. the service manager told me that my car would be cleaner going in than coming out of it. they don't fill it with soap and those blue, drape-looking wash cloths are dirty. but then again, i wash and wax the car before i bring the car in and ask for a vacuum only.
