dealer quote for comptech
What's a reasonable price to pay the dealership to install comptech springs and do a front end alignment? They had originally said it would be around $300, but I just called to see when my car would be ready and the guy said it was going to be $600 just for the labor! I feel like I'm getting completely scammed. It's David McDavid Acura in Austin, TX

Didn't someone just complain about their service at that dealership a couple days ago? Like they were tired of doing warranty work for him and told him he should goto San Antonio to get his car worked on?

i would tell them to fuck off, tell them to put the car back the way it was and you will go somewhere else...the labor for springs should be no more than 150 TOPS!!!!!! seriously, my mechanic freind who did my springs, has NEVER WORKED ON AN IMPORT CAR BEFORE, he did mine, no questions asked, no HELMS manual, in about 3 hours..thats it...i gave him 100 bucks and he was happy as a pig in shit....seriously 600 for labor, ESPECIALLY from an acura dealer, is absolutely IN-FUCKING-SANE

I also had Sways installed for 75.
And an additional 49 for a 4-Wheel alignment.
300-dollars sounds reasonable for a dealer job on Springs & alignment, 600 does NOT.

damn, shawn, you got ripped off too, i think the average install cost for springs around here is 150......with most being at or lower than 150....i know what youre gonna say though "oh but i had it done at park ave. acura" whatever, i dont see how that could make much of a difference on anything as trivial as spring installation.

i paid $220 also at Superior Acura in Cincinnati. The acura service manual he showed me said 1.6hrs for the front and 1.6hrs for the back, and thats exactly what they charged for labor. and they he told me before i brought it in that that would be the price even if they went over that time since the book shows that as being the time it takes for spring install. Im glad i had it done at the dealer to casue the right front strut broke and they replaced it under warrenty, any other shop wouldnt have done that. I could have had it done alot cheaper at another local shop but im glad i chose the dealer it was a good experience.

But then again I also could be one of the members here that is having PROBLEMS with their spring install.
I’m sure you’ve read some of the posts here about squeaking, rattling, clanging, popping, uneven settling, and even shocks that failed shortly after the install.
Many of these anomalies were attributed to improper installation.
Jen’s at Park Avenue Acura has probably done more spring installs on TL’s, CL’s, Integra’s & RSX’s then most mechanics have done oil changes.
OK I’m exaggerating, but you get the idea.

Ya i still have him in mind, the differences is that he is in San Fran, and this shop is here in San Jose (Thunder Alley), and also they told me that they guarantee their work for life. This is a big reason for me.
