Dealer Issue

Took the Car up to Acura Due to Transmission Failing. On the way, did NOT think I was going to make it. Dangerous. I ask for a Loaner car and they tell me they don't have any. I get the Cold shoulder because they know I did NOT buy the car from them. Can someone explain why this should be a MAJOR issue ? What if I bought the Car In Texas, moved, Need Service at Chattanooga Dealership ? Acura got the Business, I get the Shoulder.

The Tranny's getting Replaced, but looks like I'm out of Luck as far as a Loaner car. Is that acceptable ???????????????

NO!!!

Acura's policy for a transmission replacement is AT LEAST a rental car. Call customer service and BITCH.

That is completely unacceptable.

Whoa...you got a CL for a loaner? I got a TL last time (which was fine). I wonder if they might sell more CLs if they had them as loaner cars.

Caddy...you certainly should have had a loaner...and if there were none left then they should have worked something out for you.

I can understand them being out of loaners...

TLC, my butt... If it were me, I'd rent a car and send the bill to Honda.

There should be no issue with getting at least a rental....I have gone to 2 different dealerships and gotten a loaner and a rental everytime no questions asked.

I called Acura's 1-800# asked about their Policy. They stated that if they do NOT have a loaner, the dealer should provide you with a Rental Car.

I told him that based on what I was hearing from the Service Manager, he was going to say NO to what ever I said, which I told him was "unacceptable". The Gentleman from Acura told me he would give the dealer a Call.

I feel like a Step Child here.

how do you know that you buying the car from there or not has anything to do with them not getting you a loaner?

Yeah, i agree that he should've gotten you a rental, but how do you know he doesn't do this to all of his customers (not offering a rental) whether they bought the car or not?

yes, the service guy did something wrong, but i don't think you not buying the car from there has anything to do with it.

the dealership makes very little money selling cars but a lot more servicing them, it would be in his FAVOR to be nicer to people who didn't buy cars from there because it's more business.

Because he acutally Came out and said, "SINCE you did NOT buy the Car Here...." His Exact words. Acutally this is what the guy at the Desk came out and TOLD me after he had been back to talk with the service manager.

So, from that, I told him I wanted to talk with him.

Now how would you take that ?

So, I just had to take my car into get the brakes checked yesterday (they were warped, but only when driven like it is meant to be driven). They didn't have a loaner car for me, so the dealer just gave me a CL off the lot to drive for the day.

Then they trued my rotors without giving me an estimate first, so they didn't charge me for the service at all!

My advice, complain and good luck

Last time I was in for warranty work the service dept. was out of loaners. So I found the salesman that sold the car to me, I explained the situation and he let me have a certified used 3.5RL (nice car but the power steering is way overboosted) for a few hours. I signed a demo agreement and off I went. Salesmen are more willing to do that because they see you as a potential customer. Serivce dept. figures you have to come back to them anyway.

Like everyone said thus far, they should provide you with a loaner car be it one from their lot or a rental just as long as it is warranty work being done and that it will take longer than a day to fix.

I'm currently having my tranny swapped out and the dealer provided me with a '02 TL-S.

Good luck and don't take that crap from them because you're the customer who keeps them in business!

Well I did get a CALL back from Acura Corporation. Message was on my Phone mail this morning. Guys said he talked with PYE Acura in Chattanooga and that SERVICE MGR--DAVID--would be calling me sometime today about getting a Rental Car. It's almost 11:00 and Still No call.

It will really suprise me if someone Calls. I'm driving my Dads Car; He's 73. I just Hope he don't need to get out for any reason. Cause he's NOW Stranded.

I got a DODGE NEON

I'm dying a slowly, painful death as a Type !

They allow 30 dollars a day for Rental. This is the best they can do. I continue to feel like a 2nd Class Citizen.

It's things like this that IMPACT decisons down the road.
