Dead battery/no radio code needed???

Hey all! I was in Houston this weekend and my battery died all of a sudden. To make a long story short, I took it to the dealer, they "changed the battery". I go in and expect I need to enter in the radio code, but it turns on w/o any problems. Now I get to thinking, did they really replace my battery or did they just charge it? Do all factory radios need a code after the battery is removed, or is there a certain time the radio is disconnected and reconnected that the code isn't needed?

3 things may have happened....
1- They got the code & your settings & put everything back after the battery was replaced.
2- They only charged it & never disconnected the battery
3- There's a little tool that plugs into the 12V plug & keeps your radio powered so it's not reset.

I know for a fact they did not enter the code themselves. I even asked the guy if they would do that for me, replying they would charge me $95 blah blah blah...I don't know why, but I can never seem to trust any dealer or chain vehicle maintenance place. They always seem to do something kinda shady.
