De-lurking mode on

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks while I got the feel for the board. Finally thought I should introduce myself and join the fray.

I bought my CL-S in November of 2000. It has 37K on it now. The only problems so far:

When I brought it home, the AC wasn't blowing cold. Service told me the freon had leaked out. No problems since.

I had to get the rotors turned at 22K. That pissed me off, since we all know they are now warped and will require additional turnings. Service just told me the stock brake pads are too hard for the rotors and will be changing them for me N/C.

No tranny trouble so far, and I drive the shit outta' this baby. I use SS every day, mostly for downshifting, but I drive it hard and fast almost all the time.

The only other manufacturing complaint I have is the paint on the front and rear bumpers are about two shades off compared to the metal parts. I spoke to the service manager extensively about this. He states it due to the different absorption rates of plastic and metal. He says it is most noticable with the white. They will not do anything about it. This is not the end of this one. I intend to go further. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I will start my mods in the spring. Based on the information I have read on this board, here is my list so far. Please suggest additional mods or changes to the list.

Tint (State law is 35, can I get away with 30?)
AEM CAI w/ bypass
H&R springs & Koni Yellows (should I do them at the same time?)
Wheels (haven't made my mind up on which, should I stay with 17's?)
Tires (I need suggestions here. I drive highway almost every day and drive about 45K a year. I need tread life, wet performance and improved grip, if possible)

I'm glad I found this board and want to thank everyone who offers suggestions and advice.

HiJincs

you can definitely get away with 30%...I'd say that 22% will prolly be not a problem for you
definitely do the springs and shocks at the same time, otherwise you'll be paying for labour twice to have them put on...
if you want to keep things reasonably priced, 17s are the way to go...just upgrade to some wider better rubber...personally I have had great success with the Pirelli P7000SS...they are great in the wet and dry, and I have over 40,000km's on them and they still have at least 20k more on them

the CAI will make your car sound like a BEAST at wide open throttle, I'm sure you'll love it based on your description of how you drive your car

welcome to the board
if you look at my sig, those are the biggest and widest tires that will go on stock rims, although tread life sucks, i expect to get only 25 k miles.

Welcome. Do the springs and Konis together, it will save you $ on the installs. I highly recommend the Toyos. Awesome grip, great in the wet. As far as treadlife, i expect 25 to 30k. If you want sticky, you have to pay the price and that's less treadlife. Good luck.

Wouldn't this mean the same as 'lurking mode off?'

I prefer to look at things in a "positive light"

Thanks for the suggestions, more questions coming.
