DDM Tuning HId Kit

Hello everyone,

I just received my DDM Tuning HID Kit, and I was wondering if I needed to replace the current 20A fuses with 25A ones??
All help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Henry

replacing a fuse with a higher amp fuse isnt the correct way.
the wiring can only handle 20 amps.
and the fuse is in place to protect the wiring.

the proper way to install an hid kit would be to install a relay kit along with your hid kit

What would the relay be for?
How come the stock HIDs have no relay?

because the wiring is meant for a certain amperage.

Why would you want to up the fuse?

a relay kit is a beefy wire set up that connects to your battery which gives your HIDs power

I was reading the DIY on OEM to aftermarket hid and the OP had used a 25A fuse per the instructions he received.

I'm not necessarily wanting to up the amps ; I was just curious if it was necessary.

and would a relay really be necessary for a 35w hid kit?

Your car already has relays from the factory, comes with 35W HID from the factory and comes with a 60W high beam that runs off the same relay and fuse. 35w at 12v is about 3amps, 60w is 5 amps.

So as stated above, no need to change fuses.

I used DDM HID on my 04 Vrod. LOVE LOVES those headlights. I took my high beam out. No need for it. I ordered a 5k? If memory serves me correctly. Right in the middle and was the brightest. Was thinking of switching over to DDM for my 01cl.

so I would also be fine with a 55w kit since that would be 5A for the kit and 5A for the highs equaling 10A which is only half of the 20A?

They Look The Same As Oem. It Depends On What Bulbs You Order.

Hey guys,

Everything went smoothly.
I didn't think to take any pictures because there were a bunch already out there.
I went with 35w kit with 5000k bulbs.
Hardest part of install was RTVing the hole from old ballast (and this was not hard at all.)
I cut out pieces of rubber I bought at Home Depot and put a "X" through the middle to feed the new wiring through and RTV'd everything.
Pretty simple. Total Cost about $70 for everything, including splices, heatshrink and zipties.

I guess I'm pretty happy with the results. The lighting to the road kind of sucks though, but I think that's because these aren't projectors?
Next thing on the to do list is install some fogs.
