I am curious to find out just what is the issue with fitting the CL 6MT's. From the pics I dont see an issue, being under my CLS-6 myself on sunday.

Possibly the frame, or oil pan? Anyone care to comment on if there are any differences?

I might just have to be the kiney big here; but one, see what the issue is, do a write up for modification.

Regarding the SS version which i personally like to see under the bay vs CC. Ther is always: http://www.jet-hot.com for probably much less than what DC would make one for.

one of the rear header tubes for a 6mt needs to be bent slightly to fit around the rear motor mount. If it's not bent it's not fitting.

It's not something you can make fit easily. Requres cutting, bending, welding & lots of prayer.

Meaning the pipe from the rear primaries needs to be bent to merge to the main secondary comming into the cat? I assume someone has already tried this? Depending on how extensive this is, it might just be worth it to go with a custom pipe from rear pri and try to improve on the colletor as well.

Thx for the info.

H&R OE Springs and the DC Headers. I will probably get these mid-to-late April.

I guess I'll be one of the guinea pigs for the 2nd GEN CL owners.

Will be watching for your thread on results and satisfaction . . .

I have a bunch coming in. BTW that store you linked doesn't have them in stock.
Can we expect to see a 6speed version in the near future for the CL-S or is DCsports planning to make it sticly for the AT guys only.

Yes these are strictly for the AT. When I had mine installed I had fsttyms1 help me. He is the guy with the TL that is doing the 6 speed conversion. he has a type-s block that he's is putting in his car that came from a CL-S six speed and there is no way that the rear primary is fitting without modifying the rear engine mount bracket. Sorry for the bad news

I just had mine put on Monday and I have an AT. I had to send the rear header into a machine shop to be bent slightly to get it to fit around the motor mount. So the problem exist for both transmissions.

As far as the quality.....I likee! It's seriously like driving a whole different car. The first day there was resonance but after 50 miles it went away. The biggest notice in gains obviously is when the vtec kicks in. I'll keep on eye on it over the next few weeks to see if any problems arise but so far so good. I also added the magnaflows as well so the car sounds great. I'll post pics to this thread as soon as it stops raining here in Chicago. I'll try to get it on the dyno this weekend so we can have see the gains.

So there are fitment issues.....I can't afford to take my car to a shop and have them call me and tell me they won't fit without some additional work.

The price is certainly right for the DC's but if they don't bolt right on then I am going to pass for the time being.

Technically there isn't a fitment issue. They fit fine on the AT's. All you have to do when installing is move the rear motor mount, put the rear primary on and then put the mount back in, works like a charm. There is no need to modify the headers at all.

Am I the only one to realize that every company just copies the comptech design? You should expect similar gains. The only difference is in material and quality of build which has shown in the cheap ass companies.

You are exactly right, they are basically all the same with the exception of minor variences in design as well as build quality. It hasn't been until now with DC Sports that we had a viable option from a reputable company to compare with comptech. In the end the decision was very easy, take the chance with possible small fixable issues with DC Sports $350 or for $1100 get comptech headers. Sorry I couldn't justify the extra $750. Yes I do have leaky gaskets from the header to the downpipe, but they have already sent me new gaskets that will fix the issue. And yes the gains should be the same. If you have an auto I would definitely recommend these.

If the DC's are basically a bolt on for the at cls then I will seriously consider.

Do they bolt on to the head pipe also??

They aren't the same... If they were the same as the CT's, then they would fit the 6spd. The DC's don't the 6spd, so at best they might be a copy of the old automatic CLS CT headers.

Why DC decided to copy an old obsolete design is beyond me...

Like I said basically they are the same except for minor variances in design. The rear primary is a half inch to an inch off from fitting the 6speed, its just Honda/Acura's stupid design for the rear mount. If anything for us AT guys the DC's are better, they don't have the bend in the rear primary like Comptech does, therefore a more straight though design. Not that it will really make a difference though

The first gen CL V6 was a J30A1, 200hp/195tq, yes it was used in the 98-02 Accord also. I think Lord Helmet and Fuzzy02CLS got the OBX/SS auto (whatever you want to call them) headers for around $150 ebay and have been satisfied I believe. These headers were actually designed for the J30, but seem to fit at least AT CLS. The fact that there is nothing specific for the CLS may contribute to some build quality problems some have experienced with those. Although, if there are problems you could always buy at least 6 OBX or 3 DC headers for the price of 1 Comptech. DC seems like the best alternative all around for build quality, price, and performance. The performance shop I have been going to won't even install OBX headers he has heard and seen so much negativity from them regarding quality.

blah i'm sick of the debate... so i just bought some used comptechs from AcuraCl1... i rather not run into problems... cause even if i can buy like 3 DC headers for the price of one comptech. why put up w/ the hassle and jst do it right the first time. I bought alpha werks headers first they were great until i got a crack in the weld... so i jst bought comptechs to kill the hassle BS...
