But depending on which Vette that was it will be a close race or end up being killed itself. Especially on the topend.
Here's some specs.
What Edmunds.com Says: A stunning coupe that's guaranteed to be the hottest exotic since the Continental GT.
What We Know: Previewed originally in 2004, the V8 Vantage will slot into the lineup as the entry-level Aston, up against the likes of Porsche's 911 and other low six-figure sports cars. Henrik Fiske penned the impressive concept with the intent of including plenty of traditional Aston styling cues while still offering a fresh overall look. Although we find it too close in design to the Vanquish to be called completely original, the Vantage is a stunning car with few faults. Three inches shorter than a Porsche 911, the Vantage stretches out over a 10-inch-longer wheelbase. Under its aluminum hood rests a 4.3-liter V8 that produces 380 hp and 297 pound-feet of torque. Hand-built at Aston's engine factory in Germany, the all-aluminum engine sends its power through a six-speed manual transmission. Dual wishbones at each corner provide the connection points for your choice of 18- or 19-inch wheels. Aston Martin claims a 0-to-60 time of just 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 175 mph. Although the V8 Vantage makes use of lightweight materials throughout the car, it's still on the heavy side at 3,461 pounds versus 3,131 for a Carrera S. Inside, the V8 Vantage doesn't disappoint as its cabin sparkles with aluminum trim, hand-stitched leather and an organic electroluminescent display pioneered by Aston. The design is simple, with high-quality switchgear and a pleasing layout that can include high-tech equipment like a color navigation system and integrated GSM phone. Expect a convertible version to appear in 2006.

FWIW, here's one report from C/D on the 06 Vette. I recall others with some slightly better numbers, but these are still representative.
Looks like they're close enough for it to be a drivers race.
C/D test results:
acceleration, seconds
0-60 mph 4.1
0-100 mph 9.6
0-150 mph 25.0
1/4-mile @ mph 12.6 @ 114
rolling 5-60 mph 5.1 5.3
top gear
30-50 mph 10.3
50-70 mph 9.6
top speed
mph 186 (drag ltd, mfr's claim)

I don't actually think it would be very close at all.
The Vette should beat the DB8 9/10 times when driven properly. It has a better power:weight advantage.
