Datsun 280ZXT Vs. Eclipse Spyder GST - Who would win?
Hey there, my friend Anthony has a 280ZX turbo and his rival john has challenged him with his new Eclipse GST Sypder. THey are talking about racing for slips, based on times at the track....
Is Anthony stupid for racing him? Is there anything he can do to insure a win?

the new eclipse gts's are pretty slow...not much difference from the gt model...i dont know what the datsun runs so i'm not really going to say who will win...i just know that the spyder isn't much to worry about...

if you're talking about a GST spyder....you are talking not about the current gen eclipse, but the last gen. The last gen GST spyder will woop the crap out of a 280zx unless hes done some serious engine work. If you meant eclipse GT convertible (current gen) then it's not such a sure thing, but stock for stock the eclipse will win. 280zx'sl, even with a turbo are not very fast at all stock.

the new ones are not called GST's...but GTS's (which is the one in 2fast2furious)...unless you were mistaken.. the GTS now run somehwere from low to mid 15s..possible 15 flat if driven correctly...the old GST's aren't much faster..i'm not really sure what the other guys have heard but GST's also run around low to mid 15s...just depends on the start..since the 280 zx runs mid to high 15s also...i would have to say it all depends on the start and the driver's skills...or if one of the cars has madd engine work

Sorry about the confusion.
And Anthony has stated that in his Owner's Manual it claims the 280ZXT has 260HP.....
Not sure of what to make of this but I don't think the Eclipse has anywhere near that much?

I owned a 1998 eclipse GST, which had (stock) 210 crank hp. 0-60 on that car was like 6.4-6.5 seconds. The GTS does 6.9 seconds 0-60 but has the same peak hp rating. Both do just over 15 seconds in the 1/4. The 280zxt does the 1/4 in high 15's, and 0-60 in 7.3 seconds, best case scenario. It does NOT have 260 hp LOL...someone needs to reread their manual.

haha 260 hp? wtf...that is very unlikely...unless he stuck some new engine in there...or some other various engine mods...his chances of winning aren't as good as they should be if they're racing for slips...i wouldn't do it if i were him..eclipse GSTs shouldn't be underestimated..and i have no idea where he got the idea that his car has 260 hp

hmmm... stock for stock I'm hoping the GS-T will take him all day long... (that's considering it's the last body style turbo eclipse) but with mods either of these cars can be monstrous. It's hrad to tell without more info.
