danced with a s2k today.

so today comming home i always am driving a little crazier cuz i just wanna get home.. so i usually get bucked at by the feew proud ricers in my area. you know the usual civic eg hatches and tegs. anwyays for once there was one worth while. this silver S2k wth exhaust, and hardtop met me in the trafic cluster and we poked at each other. my car being completely stock except hankook pro rad tires and tint lol wasnt going to act like the cocky bitch most guys are. anways i was just waiting for him to ignitiate the race. after we cut loose out of the traffic, i see his car just plain out Sqwat like theres no tomorew and he is off. so i join him and i end up passing him in the right lane (2 lane road and it turns into a merge 1 lane after a 1/4 mile) so im like ahead by half a car length, then he shifts up and just takes off. my speedo was reading around 120+. i was soo amazed at how those things moved.!! he then gave me a thumbs up. i later find out he is runnin comptech exhaust, headers, intake, act stage 2 clutch, and plans for itb's.

tl;dr: s2000s are plenty fast!

s2000s can be quick with N/A mods, but they need FI to be fast. i probably would have gotten one if they weren't so small

im sure a Scharger would do the trick? I do believe comptech makes one for the s2k..i bet that would be lightning.. I always thought those 2 litre joints were kinda small, I believe they are puttin the 2.4 from the tsx now..not too sure

the 2 "litre joints" are small but they produce 120hp per liter from a N/A engine. Not many other motors can claim that. Even the new Z06 only makes 72hp per liter.

The Comptech blower is okay but it only makes real power above 6,000rpm and even then you are hard pressed to break the 300whp mark.

And they are not using a K-Series in the S2000 now

they also have a vortech blower with an aftercooler...one guy on s2ki is running that and he has something like 236whp/liter, and basically beats anythings on the streets...crazy stoof

HP/Liter is extremely overrated.

My Cobra only makes about 55hp/L, and would smoke an S2k from any speed. Granted the engine is almost 3x as big, but saying that XXXhp/L wastes anything on the street is dreaming.

If he's making 236hp/L, and its a 2.0, then yeah 472rwhp is pretty quick, esp in a 3k lb car. Still probably only runs mid 11's or so, and thats assuming a good launch. Theres lots of cars out there faster than that, and they have usable power before 6k rpm.

I like the S2k, and the Miata for that matter. I think its dumb to try to make alot of power with them though. If I had one I would make it handle like a go-kart and waste overpowered, heavy cars at the auto-x & road course.

If the S2K had more trunk space and wasn't so unreliable in adverse weather conditions I'd be in one right now. Those cars are NOT to be fucked with, particularly, if you're in a heavier car, unless you have modifications. One of the writers of Road&Track made the comment that in order for a Dodge Viper to have the same horsepower per liter output as an S2K it would have to have 1500 hp.

I messed with an S2K once in my CL2.2 just to see if he would take the bait and he walked away from me like I was carrying my car on my back.

I don't see many S2Ks where I live. The ones I do run into are just some preppy wannabe European sports car owners that are more interested in how they look in the car than what the car can do on the road.

Maybe I'll run into some eager S2Ks in my CL S when I go to Miami next month - do a little cannonball run style racing on Aligator Alley between Naples and North Miami.

hes saying to the guy above him that the engines in the s2000 produce alot of power even though they are small.
Honda uses technology to make their cars faster not so much adding F/I or making the engine huge. i would like to see honda make a car that has a larger engine with F/I . but they wont, at least not anytime soon

S2000's are quick but they aren't really that fast. Mid 14s. Low 13s maybe a lucky high 12 with the Comptech S/C and Aftercooler.

really what the hell is it doing in a small SUV. i guess it was to counter the CX-7, idk??

i think the new Civic Si, would have been a worthy candidate for the turbo 2.3L i-VTEC.

civic is supposed to have somewhat of a low price, they need to make a new rsx in a couple of years with that engine and make it RWD

yea or AWD. Acura needs something that will blow the 3-series and the Lexus IS away. both cars have models that have F/I now.

I caught an S2K for sale with a comptech supercharger for $15,000. The owner claimed it puts out 315HP but I was buckling at the knees wondering how close that car's engine was to pooping out from abuse.

Your comprehension may be lacking a little...

Yeah I did mock you in jest... you'll get over it.

However, I don't think I compared your CL to anything. And if you think the Z06 is a "shitbox" with a dump truck engine you're smoking something good! Name another car out there that can compete with the Z06 for the price?

ok ok I am over it..
1. Its been a hot minute since I've seen good smoke..
2. The Z06 is a shitbox with a dumptruck engine...
give honda an engine of that size and you will have a front wheel drive HELICOPTER
3. "for the price" ... i bet you pay the cost twice in fixing the dumptruck..
Also good for you for standing up to me, but i hate american cars - actually the only thing i like about america is this damn forum, and married with children.
AL cracks me up...

but yeh yeh HP/$ is definatly huge in that zombonie, but i bet thats it's one and only feature..

Well i feel i need to chime in hear, i have a 2001 s2k, with intake and exhuast. I also have a 2003 cls 6mt with headers, i can say the cl will hang with if not beat the s2k to about 100mph, however after 100mph the s2k kills it, two differnt cars meant for two completly differnt things, the s2k is nothing that spoecial untill your at 6k or above, or going above 100mph on a road coarse, the cl is much better at lower speeds and much more fun in traffic!

anyway...i've never actually driven an s2k, but i have danced with a couple...i've yet to beat one and revs, i wish i could say the cl is fun in traffic but traffic here is 2nd worse in the country...

overall though, im pretty sure the s2k > cl-s in performance..POWER TO WEIGHT!!! and i think the last time i checked, my cl-s weighed as much as free willy

im very sorry to hear that actually.

umm if you look at your orginal buyers guide (unless of course u dont have one) most likely more than half the parts on your car are American.
