Angry Damn She is Bleeding OIL

Just Noticed today when i pulled off the parking spot, She was bleeding "not Much but I saw oil Stain(s) enough to convince me". I looked under-neath her and to me it seems like it is coming from the Trans. Not quite sure if it is a Trans. fluid but I'm almst certain that it is Trans. fluid, Besides the Leak Tranny is in good shape and I-hope to be able to fix it by this coming week

Anyway the QN is:

- Does this Happen Oftenly? Anyone ever experience this before?

- Also have any of you Guys ever replaced the Gasket btn tranny assembly and the Engine?.

Gasket Number 6 on the Picture

I'll put pictures up by tomorrow,

Your input(s) will be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
R.

Tranny fluid is red so that is probly what it is. I'm guessing it isn't anything big. I would check your tranny drain plug and see if it is what is leaking.

Have you ever changed your tranny fluid? The drain plug is very easy to find. It is the only plug that is just like a socket...you don't use a socket like a normal plug. You have to just use the wrench

Uhhhh, that's a wild guess which I might call disastrously uninformed.

ReiDLos, you need to get this figured out quickly. You should probably take it to a shop. If not an Acura dealer, a shop that specializes in automatic transmissions.

I agree completely.

I would not take any chances with this transmission, that is asking for trouble.

I'm just sayin to check the obvious little shit first. It doesn't cost anything to check the drain plug.

However if a shop checks your tranny only to notice the drainplug is loose they COULD tell you it is a gasket that needs replaced and charge you for that and labor just to adjust the drain plug

Never changed Tranny's Fluid. I know the socket you are talking about, I almost opened it once trying to change engine oil "Dumb"

Anyone know where in the manual this seal is? I looked in engine & transmission and don't see it.

I wish it was available as a .pdf like most other manufacturers. Much easier to search.

I finally found it, but am confused. The access panel you have pictured is to remove the bolts holding on the torque converter. Did the shop remove the transmission? That is the only way to get behind the torque converter.

That is just an inspection cover and how you remove the bolts for the torque converter. If it is the Rear main (which is a semi common problem on the J32) you will have to remove the trans to get to and to replace a 5 dollar seal.

That was exactly my point. He is saying he had it repaired for 150.00 labor.

I cannot believe any shop will r&r the trans for 150.00.

"I know people who knows people who do their JOB right and for a good price"

they removed transmission and mount the seal, i even changed the motor mount.

What makes you so scepticals.

For starters quality paint costs more than 400.00 to paint a car.

If you are getting this work done for free good for you. I find it hard to believe.
