Damn CLS :( Please help!
Damn CLS :( Please help!
Never had this problem in my '94 LeSabre:
got speeding ticket today
I was only going 72 in a 50 on the Belt parkway in brooklyn
Right under the verrazano bridge - never saw cops there, they are usually further down the road (there actually was one too).
Now I will get 6 points on my license
However, the ticket is filled out rather incorrectly.
Everything is correct except for the speed portion.
in stead of putting it into Sppeding:MPH:in MPH Zone section
she(it was her) put it under " violation of sec. 72 sub 50"
I have heard that incorrect tickets are dismissed by default.
But that's parking tickets. Does anybody know how that works for
speeding in NYS?
Also, I am thinking of getting a lawyer for around 150 to get 2 points off, and then get a lecture to cut another 4. So potentially I will have 0-2 points (2 if lawyer sucks arss)
However, the violation will still be on my record. Will that affect my insurance given that I have no points? Also, I am a secondary driver on my parents policy, will it affect them (first car)?
Thanks A Lot for ANY HELP!

Hey Shurik
I almost got pulled over by the same cop yesterday. My V1 saved my ass. Concerning your situation. I had the same story 2 years ago. I got speeding ticket on the Belt going 80 in 50. One suggestion makes sure you get the lawyer.

How could you get a ticket there?
There are ALWAYS cops on that part of the Belt.
HWY 2 I believe.
Anyway, unlikely to get dismissed for minor mistake.
Get a lawyer to plea your case or just fight it yourself.
The DA will likely make you an offer before the trial to
avoid the time, $, and hassle for them. Take it.

it depends on the mistake and if the cop catches it before the hearing or not too as to whether it will be dismissed or not. the judge also makes a call as to whether the mistake is worth dropping the ticket or not.
had a friend that got a ticket for a date that was in the future, and he was going to use that in the hearing. turns out the cop caught it before and called the judge beforehand to get it corrected.
and as for insurance, it will depend on your company. i got a ticket exactly 1 year ago for doing 55 in a 35 (street went from 55 to 35 to 45 to 35 to 55 all within a 2 mile stretch) and got 4 points but insurance is still the same. allstate knows about my points but due to how long i've been with them and the rest of my driving record, they allowed that 1 ticket w/o increasing my premium.
