Question d5 light dimming/blinking

hey guys, before you jump on me for not running a search, i did, and it was all tranny related, well im at 144,000 miles right now, and i just got a pioneer navi installed, well i was driving home from work and when i get to a red light, my car kinda trembles and the d5 light kinda dims down and almost kinda bilnks when im at a complete stop as if its gonna shut off on me, but when i lower the radio, at a low volume, it doesent do it anymore after driving it, raise the volume again and it does the same thing at the next stop, just had a semi long trip last nite, and everything seems to be driving fine, shifting perfectly, could it be the battery( 4 months old)?, tranny?, navi sucking up power?, i really dont know and im really worried , well any help/advice would be greatly appreciated,
thanks in advance

*mods please close up my other thread in the problems and fixes section, thanks

sounds like a power problem. what kind of battery are you running? have lots of aftermarket electical components? (speakers, amps, subs). upgrade to a optima red top if you want a good standard battery (assuming you have minimal components). if you require more reserve, get a optima yellow top. a capacitor in addition to the optima (usually 1Farad will do) will also help reduce or if not, stop the dimming when sound output is high.

Dude, I just had the AVIC-N3 installed and my lights do the same thing. I thought it was the amp drawing too much but when I go into the vehicle dynamics menu on the nav syst. it will read 12. whatever at idle and when I start to drive it goes up to 14. whatever. I'm headed down to the shop that installed it tomorrow, so I'll ask them wtf and hopefully have a good reply for you tomorrow....

So I just got back from the stereo shop and the answer they gave me was "Huh, I'm not sure...." Also, I just re-read one of your posts and you said "and when I'm at idle is when I feel it".....not sure what you're "feeling" mine just slighly dims. I'd say go back to the place that installed it, hopefully they're pretty reputable and can give you a better answer than I got.

Sounds like what happened to me....although I don't recall the D5 light blinking.

Miker - go to your vehicle dynamics screen and see what the volts tells you. At idle mine hovers a little above 12 and when I'm cruising its around 14. If thats good, maybe it'd be a good idea to have Acura Roadside Assistance's number in your cell just in case....I know I do now!!!

VIKAS - Get ready for the "loaner"! haha, a free vehicle to pound on for a few days and not worry!
