"D5" Blinking!!!
Hi all,
One day, my D5 light started to blink. I checked the manual immediately and it indicated that it might be a possible trans problem. The wierd thing is that it only blinks when the car is cold.
So, on my way to the school, it will be blinking. After I drove my car for about 3-5 miles and stop the car, pull out the key and ignite it again, it is fine.
IS THIS A POSSIBLE TRANS PROBLEM?
I took it to the dealer when it first happened but service manager told me to come back 5 days later just becasue they are busy till then. Plus, he said the car should be okay without checking out my car.
Any advice????
I think I am going to trade in my car for something else before it gets worse....
By the way I have 01 - CLS with only 10700 miles on it.
Thanks folks

well dont sell ur car NOW cos whoever is willing to buy it will see the blinking and might freak out. So wait till u get the tranny replaced (assuming it'll blow soon enough and they'll get u another one) then u can sell it. Its all under warranty so u wont have to pay a cent except u'll be driving around wondering when it'll go.
And dont take any sh*t from the dealers... i'm sure they wont want to fix it right away and may try to give u the run around.

Actually mine is just an electrical issue i never bothered to have the dealer take care of as it'd probably be more hassle than it's worth. My D5 light doesn't BLINK, it just varies in color strength. Sometimes it's BRIGHT green, then for a bit it will dim, then come back to bright, etc.
Same thing happens in any gear I'm in... D4 does it too, for example. It's done this as long as I've had the car.
Now if your D5 light is indeed BLINKING, you are having a transmission issue and need to get it checked ASAP.

The wierd thing is that it only blinks when I start the car from cold (in the morning.) After the car is driving for about 10 mins, and if I ignite it once more, the blinking is gone.
Can it be electrical prob? I hope......

Don't freak just yet. I had the same problem-it turned out to be the transmission tempeture sensor. Got it replaced under warranty and have had no problems since.
